^ Somebody's hooked

You should definitely pick up a scanner. I picked up a refurb. Epson V500 from Adorama a couple months ago. The quality I get from my scans are a million times better than the photo CDs I was getting from the labs. It takes some trial and error to dial in the settings, but once you find the proper ones, you're golden.

I probably posted this in the other thread, but it applies to this one too Scanned on my V500:

Question about the v500... You're using it to scan film negatives, correct? Also if you scan multiple objects, does it have to option to automatically break them into separate files? Like if I scan 4 photo prints, do I have to open up the composite scan and crop and save each one individually?

Beach bum might be better at answering this one but as I understand it you shouldn't have to. I scan my strips of negs and it breaks them up automatically.

Yes, I scan film negatives and positives. I don't know the answer to your other question. Maybe Breezy can help?

Edit: Haha, he beat me to it ^

I really want to get my own scanner. When I'm lazy, I will have my negs scanned at Costco (really, not too bad considering the price), but for high-res scans, I use a company out in Austin. In the long run, it's cheaper to buy a scanner.... don't know why I've waited so long.

Then again, I haven't really used my camera for a few months. I've been too busy.

Their scans are nice, but I'm a bit unmotivated to deal with them because it's a bit of an inconvenience. You have to print out a form, fill it in, send your film, they develop it, scan it, whatever you order, then contact you with the final bill and how you want the film to be shipped back to you (a factor in the bill).

If you're in the area, none of this matters, obviously.

Kool thread guys!

When I was a kid, I used to play with my Dad's Yashica..it was kool camera and used to give out excellent pics even if used by camera dummies like me back then. I'm visiting my parents during christmas time this year... I hope to resurrect that lil old Yashica and may be post some film stuff here too!! Now I'm getting excited
