What would it cost to get my car painted?

It has been a bad week for my Bimmer. This week my car has been side swiped on both sides from the front door to the rear bumper. The bumper is scratched too deep to repair but luckily the rest is very minor damage. I was planning on getting a new M3 front bumper anyways and was wondering how much more it would cost to just repaint the whole car laguna secca blue.

You can pay anywhere from $250 to $10000 for your paint job...

Mine was repainted a different color for 3500 but I got a good deal for all the work they did, but u should ask shops around you for an estimate rather than asking here

I don't know about prices but if you can get some of the work done yourself like the sanding etc, it will be a lot cheaper.

I would be going for the bang for your buck paint job. I am just asking here to see if I should even be toying around with the idea. I would not mind spending a little extra but I am not going to go crazy on a 11 year old car.

As soon as you change colors the cost goes way up. Because now, if you want it done right, you're talking door jams, kick plates, trunk, engine compartment. All the stuff that a paint shop would leave alone if it were same color. hokiebimmer is right though, any work you do yourself will save you money...

I always tell my friends to do their own prep work before going into paint. Sanding is easy to do and you can possibly knock off $100 from the price, if not more by doing so.

Prep it yourself and take it to Maaco, $500 for whole car (single stage with clear mixed in). Everyone on the internet says Maaco is terrible but it's not true, they are independently owned, so you'll just have to research and find reviews on the Maaco you plan to take it to.

Also, if you go there, you can see the freshly painted cars they have parked in their garage or outside, so you can decide for yourself if they do a good job. If you did a good prep job and take care of the paint, it will last a long time.

Friend had 2 vans painted and a miata at my local maaco, looks great. Even if they find runs and mistakes, they will fix them for free if you point them out clearly.

Hmmm that might be an option. The ones near Mass have mixed reviews so I will have to look into it more. It is an 11 year old car so I am not overly picky. I dont care about a little over spray but I do live in New England so even though it is garaged it does see some nasty weather. Peeling paint would be my main concern on a budget job.

Thanks for the input!

Peeling would happen due to poor prep work on the car before sending it to paint. Do research on how to properly prep your vehicle for paint and then go for it. Again if you decide to go with Maaco, you can be happy with the end result and the price is definitely going to hit the mark but they will NOT paint any interior for $500.

Correct, $500 is for exterior ONLY. Under the trunk and door jambs cost extra. (about $100-150 for each).

You'll probably outweigh the value.

What would be better to do, re-paint the car, or just wrap your car with vinyl?
