Need help deciding for an exhaust
Got a 2000 328i, super quiet. Looking for a fairly quiet exhaust under normal conditions but screams at WOT. Does anyone got suggestions? Ive been looking around for weeks and so far I found there the supersprint and remus. Im not sure what others there are. Can anyone chime in? Thanks

Do you know what a cut-out is ? You're the perfect candidate.

Isnt that basically having 2 exhaust systems, one going out regularly and one going out open header or wherever you choose the cutout to be?

Yes. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-670150-1/ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-670136/ What I would propose is for you to have a super quiet exhaust below WOT, but have a throttle body micro switch that activated your exhaust cut-out at WOT. The cut-out doesn't need to directly vent, it to can be muffled a little. The end result would be you'd have that extremely quiet exhaust until you nailed it, then it would scream. Good luck.

That would work I guess but seems too much work for just a DD since I dont really drive that hard anyways. I think a aftermarket muffler would be sufficient

You mentioned Remus and its a fantastic system which in my opinion would be exactly what your looking for! We have this system in stock and ready to ship! The Remus E46 Exhaust comes in a single side exit or dual exit. Here are some pictures for your review! It also comes with a few different tip options!

My friend once had a magnaflow and it drones like crazy. Will it drone with a catback?

Corsa Exhaust by UUC motorworks is awesome. i currently have it on my 325i. It has ZERO drone, quiet when normally driving, and growls at WOT. I love it and so does everyone that hears it. Ill post a video tomorrow

We have been discussing going to a single 3" catback exhaust at this thread - http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=880013
You will see what I am getting. Something to consider. Whatever you choose I have learned that for the quietest exhaust, the resonators and mufflers must be "converged" not separate like the UUC that I am getting rid of. By "converged" I mean that the two pipes enter and exit ONE resonator/muffler rather than never mixing in separate resonators/mufflers. BTW, X pipes only really work on V8 exhausts. Jim |

And is a very very popular option on the E46! I have a Magnaflow set up on my E36 currently it is a little loud but no drone to speak of on the high way. The E46 Magnaflow Cat Back Exhaust has similar characteristics.
Another very popular option on the E46 is the UUC System U Twin Silencer Exhaust. The UUC system is pretty slick, it has a great tone and volume at WOT with a deep and mellow sound at partial throttle. ECS Tuning

I have not personally heard the E46 UUC exhaust, but the E39 M5, E39 540i, E36 M3, and E46 M3 I have heard with UUC exhausts do not drone. They are louder than stock and have a deeper rumble. I would be very very surprised if the E46 system experienced drone. ECS Tuning
