Guy not far from Birmingham defends his stuff.

Quote:
An eastern Jefferson County homeowner and two people apparently stealing scrap equipment from his land exchanged gunfire this morning.

No one was injured in the brief shoot-out, but a bullet grazed the hood of a car behind which the homeowner had taken cover.

Jefferson County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 9000 block of Brasher Road in the Pinson area about 6:30 a.m.

The homeowner, who wasn't identified, told deputies he was getting ready for work when he heard his dogs barking outside, something he said only happens when someone is out there, according to Chief Deputy Randy Christian.

Christian provided this account:

The man got dressed and grabbed his revolver. As he walked his property, he heard noise coming from an area near his grandfather's home. He then saw two people standing at the edge of the woods with unknown items in their hands.

He yelled to the two people to "stop, get on the ground and don't move."

That's when someone fired two shots at him. The victim then fired five shots from his own revolver while taking cover behind a truck. He fired his weapon empty, and then dropped down to reload.

The two suspects fled.

The victim ran to his grandfather's house, woke him and called 911.

Deputies set up a perimeter, but were unable to locate the suspects.

Christian said a bullet skimmed the hood of the vehicle about 10 inches from where the victim had taken cover.
How do you think it would have gone down had he NOT had his pistol?
