recaro sr3 into e46?

Hey all, I was wondering if it's possible to fit Recaro SR3's into an e46 sedan? I know the passenger SRS light will come on, but has it been done before?

Thanks

Don't know if it has been done before - try the Tech and Tuning forums...

On a related note, there are seat sensor bypass devices that you can buy online that should overcome the airbag warning light issue.

Its possible, I have Recaro SR4 Impact Pro seats in my M3.

You'll need an E46 specific bottom mount style seat rail with the a bracket for the standard seat belt buckle. Recaro make one but I couldn't find a dealer willing to sell me one. Macht Snell were also developing bottom mounts but I am not sure if it eventuated. I used Corbeau on mine but would recommend Recaro if you can find a set.

Regarding the airbag sensor your options are to either bypass it (there is a resistor kit available) or to install an OEM occupancy sensor mat like you would find in your original seats.

There is a mesh lining on the underside of the seats which allows you to slip the sensor mat into place, the mat runs around $180. To not trip the airbag light you'll have to keep the battery disconnected during the whole install.

Thanks for your replies. Is there a sensor for the drivers seat other than the seat belt buckle?

You don't need a sensor mat for the drivers seat.

Awesome reply Aaron!

When i installed bucket seats into my car (non bmw) i used seats from the same manufacturer. Everything was pnp (other than the mount). So i suggest if you can find some recaro seats from the older bmw m range... I forgot which model came with them, but damn do they look good and fit the part. Hmm were they from the jps range?
