Powder coat

so i got two problems here..........im trying to find a color that matches these rims here.......i came to a conclusion that its a hyper black or high gloss black. do you guys agree? im trying get as close to that color as possible!

second problem is that the guy who said he was gonna sand blast my rims quit....so im left with the problem i sanded 2 of them pretty much most of the way......but now im starting on my third rim.....is there any stripper out there stronger than aircraft paint remover that will do the job.........

i used aircraft for the first two and its a slow hit or miss process!

There's a chemical called Kleen-wall. Stuff is intense, we use it at work, removes almost anything. Not sure where you as a consumer can buy it but use Google and see what you can find. GL

nahhhh thats not strong enough just looked it upp need something alot stonger than that but also something that doesnt eat the alluminum

Your not the only one with this problem. I posted the same question a few months back, no help at all. The brush on aircraft stripper is the most cost effective off-the-shelf solution. It would be nice if it took less then a whole can per wheel though, and all it really does is soften the powder coat. Sandblasting will be hit & miss too, the stuff is like super powdercoat.

The best thing to use is brake fluid. But good luck finding a large enough source to submerge even part of the wheel. I haven't had such luck as most shops throw it in with the used oil and burn it for heat in the winter.

I've done considerable research on this matter as well. I have definitive proof, just no pictures. On my first 46, the front drivers wheel had an entire section stripped down to bare aluminum. When it belonged to the previous owners, the caliper had leaked, either through a blown seal or loose bleeder screw. it ran down the rotor onto the inside barrel of the wheel, it puddled in the wheel and took everything with it. They used it as a weekend car so it sat for a few days like that.

well the Hyperblack is a very hard finish to do. there was a place or two that i remember doing it but it was expensive. so much so it' was basically cheaper to buy wheels with that finish since it's sort of like a black chrome.

many of the powder coating places will offer a sandblasting service if the wheel is going to be completely powdercoated.
