Front Axle Noise, is it Normal ??

330xi, Manual 6 speed, 2005, around 110000miles (184000Km)

Lifted the tires to inspect the suspension components (Tie rods, ball joints, CV boots, etc.) and while i had the car up, i noticed that when i turn the wheel... well, i think a video is worth a thousand words... skip the first minute of the video... (the noise is audible throughout the video but it is emphasized at 1:01)

both sides at the front make the same noise, all boots are intact (one side has the large clamp slightly loose, so SOME grease has escaped, but by no means a big amount), the axles feel solid, no clicking noise on turns, and no strange vibrations at long highway drives...

is that noise normal???

Tough to tell but the play could be normal slack in an old rack. Can you replicate the noise by grabbing the axle and shaking?

i never noticed it, thanks redbull, i'll check out the xenon sensor...

the sound is there only when i spin the tire forward and backward... i tried shaking the axle, it woudnt make the noise (but if i rotate the axle even lightly, the noise is there).... look again at the video and notice that i'm only spinning the tire at 1:01...
otherwise, nothing is loose (well.. the tie rod is on it's way out, it's loose to rotate but not making a noise just yet)
