Oh and to the op the lifters and tray are the exact same part numbers. The s52 springs are better though. You will need the spring seat, spring and retainer if I remember right.

a picture of the difference.
m/s 52 the helix is one solid piece with bigger diameter threads m52tu/m54 smaller threads and is actually a bolt that goes through the helix. the reason you have to add a spacer to s52 is because the helix is designed for 12 degree rotation of single vanos where the tu/m54 is 20 degree AFAIR adding the spacer (has to be smaller that the splines) allows the vanos gear to rotate the full 20 degrees. |

Sounds like a lot of work, and risk of breaking the cam. If you could find the intake cam for cheap, it might me worthwhile.

honestly I wasnt very impressed with it. as I said dirty airfilter and had a scored cylinder wall on #3. it also kinda started to break up at the end on the graph. Due to bad airfilter? no tune with cam? you guess is as good as mine.

Are you sure those numbers are on your M52TUB25 Those torque numbers are really high...But those the curve looks great untill towards the end. You are running fairly lean, so a nice tune would probably clean that up.

Haha wouldn't that be nice. I bought it with 106k miles with a blown head gasket and the threads for the headbolts were stripped. So I time certed it, had the head milled and used a stock gasket putting it back together so it might have had a little extra compression but I don't think enough to make a difference. put the s52 camshaft in it and left everything else the same. The engine looked original and it had fairly low miles so I don't think it had been replaced with a 3.0 or 2.8 but who knows. Plus I think the person who sold it to me would have told me (would be a selling point you would think) but anythings possible. All I know for sure is the chassy was a 323i and it had m52tu intake manifold
