E39 a good car??

I might be getting a 2000 528i Sport Package.

Is it a good car??

There's the driver side inside door handle broken and missing a driver side sun visor..

Replacement parts anywhere??

Anyone with info on this car??????

Please help.

I would skip the 2000 528i. 2002-2003 530i only for the i6 E39.

Based on what it's missing the car sounds beat to hell.

I bought an '03 530i M-Sport after my E46 was written off by insurance, a fantastic car in all areas.

Lol, I had a '00 528i. Great car, but remember the same issues we face that E39 will face as well, except the subframe I think.

True, it's good if you need the extra space especially if the back seats are used a lot.

Ours has never been in the shop, never a problem at all, but only 110k. The e39 was listed by Consumer Reports (around 2000) as the best car they have ever tested. I don't have much love personally for Consumer Reports, but they do rate things honestly i think. Mechanically it's basically just the same as an e46, but MUCH more space, especially in the back seat.
All that said, find a 530 instead of a 528, it's too heavy without the bigger motor. Also, this one doesn't sound very clean. I've never seen a car missing a sun visor that was properly cared for otherwise. Picky? Yes. You don't want ANY bimmer that hasn't been cared for.

E39 530i with M sport package. Oh god I love that grip of the steering wheel.....
And test drive a 540 as well. Gosh I cannot forget the growling sound of bMW V8.

540s are quite wicked but not nearly as maintenance free as a 530.

This. But a 530 would be a much more "logical" choice.

Why not the 2001 - that is when the 530i came out?
