Jeesh. Did a quick read of all of the past 7 pages.
Nice read. Going to start my own BOB with stuff you guys have already listed. Found that only one person (glock) mentioned lightsticks or glowsticks. Cheap - long lasting. $10 for a 10 pack on amazon. |

Love this. Anyone know where I can get a case with foam inserts that are NOT cut? I'd like to cut out my own pockets to custom fit my gear
TIA

These probably aren't enough for firearms, but if you just want some hard cases with pick-and-pluck here are some lower cost alternatives.

I use my omega vest as a bob.. i have a backpack (carrymor) loaded w/ extra ammo etc, but as my goal in a shtf situation is relocation to my family an cache, i am concentrating on light weight and max firepower if cornered.

Pelican cases are not cut out. They are scored so you can pluck out the area you want. You can also custom order form that is solid that they cut out all the sections for you.

Since I'm not in a hurricane area, I'm basing mine off a scenario which causes mass panic.
My bag will include: Ammo for my 9mm & 12 gauge shotgun First aid kit Food A few days clothing camping stuff - fire starters, ax, small saw muti tool hydration bag, purification equipment lighting - batteries, flashlights, etc not the best BOB, but i figured if something like this happens, I can resupply. Also, my plan is to head to my buddy's place about 15 miles from here. He has a cache of guns and ammo. He has a "safe" room which includes 5 safes full of gun of all types and he has one of his garages full of ammo... Also, this is off the top of my head. So I'm sure I'm missing something. No, you're not in a hurricane zone but didn't you Texans go a zillion days without rain this year? My sister lives in Houston, she tells me the wildfires crept right up to the city. Are you prepared to evacuate your home on short notice if a wildfire breaks out? In record breaking drought conditions? EXTRA water, burn cream, eyewash, headlamp, face mask/respirator? Word on the street is that your drought is expected to last well into next year: LINK.Think hard about stuff you might actually need, then scale up.

^^good info.
If you are looking for a mask or two, look into the 3M N95 or P95 particulate respirator/dust masks. They're very compact and disposable, and affordable. The more advanced cartridge-based respirators are very inexpensive as well, but they take up a lot more bulk. A quick GTFO pack should be as compact and light as possible, IMO. The smaller dust masks like the 95 series are ideal for most uses, to include biological protection from many airborne pathogens like TB, norovirus and the common cold.

^ oh ya. I almost bought one off cheaper than dirt.
![]() $12 but like you said, very bulky. The 3M masks are great. I remember sending a few packs of them back to Taiwan when the bird flu was spreading around down there.. or was it SARS? |

I've been looking the lists over and was not seeing some sort of multi-tool listed. I know everyone loves their Leatherman, but what do you think would be the use/weight ratio for repair tools?
I have a 'roadside' bag in my trunk with jumper cables, shop towels, gloves (rubber & leather), multi-tip screwdriver, 12" Cresent, a couple of pairs of Vise-Grips, quart of oil, and some lineman pliers, but that's more for band-aiding a vehicle to get it somewhere safe.
