Hi Jeff,
I have received my Dynavin D99 Android unit at the end of December last year. I connected it all up but for some reason the steering controls and OBC functionality is not working. I drive a BMW 330CI 2003 model. Have you heard from any other installations where they have issues like this? The Ibus controller that i received with the unit has no writing on it, it just has the connection to the Dynavin cable on the oneside and a mini usb connection on the other. Any help would be great! |

Also interesting questions is if you have PDC and also installed rear view CAM. When switching to rear shift, what will switch PDC or CAM? Because for CAM, we have special wire, so by default it should go to CAM. So it is interesting how PDC function is done in ibus connection.

Your dealer should have alerted you to this... ...we fixed every harness we had in stock and emailed instructions on the fix to the few that had already shipped.....

Hi Jeff, can you comment if the Sygic navigation runs any smoother / refreshes faster than the iGo software on the D95/96?

As far as I know the WinCE or Android part of of the unit is unchanged, so I dont think it would be any different. Sygic is a pretty basic program, I dont think it works any better than igo does.

we dont do group buys, they are always a disaster. Big demand an small supply means the price is the price. This is not the forum for sales inquiries though, email me for that. Thanks.

I currently have the V3 with Win CE. Its overdue for a upgrade... Really excited after watching the videos you put together Jeff... I'm thinking of purchasing 3 of these, two for my e46's and one for my buddy's e46... ![]() Thanks in advance for the answers..

The only difference between the Android and CE units is the Operating System on the navigation side of the unit. The Android unit uses GPS to navigate, but as standard uses Google Maps which requires an internet connection to download mapping on the fly. If you install an offline navigation package, you don't need the internet connection all the time.
You cannot, IIRC, use the Market without an internet connection. You can connect a USB device to the Android side - thats how it gets its wireless connectivity. |

Also on E39 device for example there is NAV SD card slot. What is purpose? Only for maps? Because currently on my Alpine device I have GPS module with SD card and IGO navigation is actually on SD card. Last edited by Sheva_BMW; 01-05-2012 at 01:39 PM. |

Whats the difference between the WinCE unit and the Android unit besides the software?
see the android thread or the FAQ on my website. Does android use the GPS signal or WiFi to navigate? Answered above by MaximumWalrus Is there any way we can connect a USB device to Android side of the system for a 3G Wireless router or something? I suppose it is possible but I only endorse the wifi route....too many compatibility issues for me to deal with going the usb3G route... I usually use the USB function of the unit to play all my music. It loads up instatly on the V3 unit. Is there a delay for a 8GB USB Stick on these newer units? If so how long is the boot time? Havent timed it but not long.....It can be seen in the video in the first post. When the reverse cam is on, on the V3, music shuts off.. Does it do this on the newer units like the D99? Same...I think.... Can we download apps to Android without using a WiFi Connection? Lets say using a USB stick... Yes, you can put the app apk on a usb or sd card and use the android app installer. You mentioned the Android system has its own sound settings for its apps. Does the Navigation app turn down the volume of the music while giving directions? Yes, but it depends on the app, works the same way as a phone or tablet, its probably going to work smoother if you are using the android music player as the nav and music programs are programmed to interact well in most cases. Last but not least, v3 users had no control on the midrange, subwoofer levels and such? Is this still present on the newer units? No midrange, but it does have a sub level control.

Hey guys...got my unit from Jeff (thanks!) and doing the install right now, and need some assistance.
1) Not sure how my existing Bluetooth connects to the unit. Can I use the existing mic? Where is the connection made? Also, couldn't find where to access the Bluetooth menu to add my phone... 2) steering wheel controls seem to work intermittently... Volume and track selection don't always work, until I push it a couple times, if at all. Am I doing something wrong here? The only connection I did for this was plug the original wiring into the little black box with the mini USB plug on one side. What's supposed to plug into the mini USB port? Thanks for the help! |

im not so good at writing reviews lol
but so far i love, makes a huge difference inside the car. i love the fact that i can watch movies, go on youtube, dl apps, blah blah blah you name it this thing can do it. i still have to mess around with it figure everything out. one thing that sucks is the radio side for minisd. i just bought a 32gig card so im in the process of getting it all set up so i can use the android media player which i hear good things about. another thing is you can choose what song u want to play from the menu when i hook up my iphone, it just plays random songs. other than that its a great unit. Expensive but considering how many other flip out screens there are on the market for for ~$1500 and that don't look stock id say this is a good deal. its got a ton of potential thats for sure. The pros seriously out way the cons and im really happy with my purchase. I have a question though, the illumination lights aren't tuning on ![]() I'm not sure what the problem. I used the farka cable to extend from the stock radio in the back since i had oem navigation. I had to splice the wires together to hook it up since the farka cable had a different connector. Anyone know where the illumination wire is so i can take a look at this and try to fix it? I know the farka cable had "brake" "reverse" and "amp" wires separately stick out of the end of it. Maybe its one of those? And thanks for the unit Jeff!!

For the iphone, you just hold down the "menu" button to go to the "artist/album/playlist/etc... screen. For the lighting, if you used a Fakra harness there is an orange wire for illumination on the harness, if you look at the corresponding pin in the oem plug in your trunk you will find your car has no illumination wire.....easiest fix is to splice the orange wire into a dash illumination wire (at the ashtray for instance) or just splice the orange to the red ignition wire in the harness so the lights come on when the car is on. your stock bluetooth module could be causing some confusion with the steering wheel controls, disconnect the oem bluetooth.
