Will a 235 50R18 fit an E46?
I have a 2005 330xi with 225 40R18s. I am tired of dinging my rims and would like to go to a larger sidewall. Will a 235 50R18 fit? I have the standard suspension. If these won't fit, what is the largest tire I can get on 18x8 rims? I want the same tire all the way around. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

90mm sidewall vs 117,5mm.
Just learn to drive in a way to protect your rims, or get 17" rims.. |

Going to a higher aspect ratio would be foolish. You will hurt performance and fuel economy, render your speedometer and odometer inaccurate, and also introduce the possiblity of rubbing.
If you don't want to ding your rims, don't drive so close to curbs.

do you mean bending your wheels? or curb rash?
if you mean bending either you need to buy nicer wheels or stop driving over boulders. if you mean curb rash don't drive so close to curbs. like he said^ a bigger side wall isn't going to help you as much as you think it will.

I do mean bending wheels. Curb rash is not a problem. I am in Eastern TN and there are plenty of "surprise" potholes and hazards. I figured a higher sidewall would give me more protection. I appreciate the comments but does anyone know how big a tire will fit?

My Ride: is parked hard.

Why not get 17's instead? 50 sidewall is going to look ridiculous on an 18.

(I didn't watch the whole video, but I didn't have to--I know you're wrong)Hey Zin! Check out my location. I admit the roads have gotten a lot worse after last winter, but c'mon. Are your wheels stock? I could imagine you maybe bending some really cheap ones, but not decent ones or even the stockers. Dodging the big potholes isn't that difficult.

To answer your question, OP, h3ll no they won't fit, for all the reasons I listed in my first response. If you're bending wheels on the potholes around here, you are not paying enough attention while driving, or your wheels are crap. Sorry. This thread is a perfect example of why this forum used to be way cooler. Monster truck tires on an e46, lulz.
