Get to meet my Pen pal at the end of the month!

So as the title says i get to meet my pen pal i have had for about a year now at the end of this month, She is from China and has come to Saskatoon to study and we have set up a day to finally meet, We have only seen pictures of each other and send emails daily so i am pretty excited, Id like to give her some kind of gift as she brought me some News papers from China ( just for fun) What do you guys think i should bring her ?

Do they have any humorous books on Canada?
They have several about the US such as you know you are a redneck when, you know you are from the South when, you can recognize someone from Southern Cali when ......

It might be humorous and break the ice.

Just an idea.

It is better than socks and underwear.

Is she fluent in english? Head down to Chapters and get one of those picture books of foreign signs translated into English poorly.

She is very good when it comes to English I think i may go with your idea and get her a funny book, I was bored one day and remember having a pen pal as a kid and how much fun it was and signed up on a website for this, This girl from china sent me a message because she was going to be coming to Canada to study so we have talked back and forth ever since, Its alot of fun.

Seriously, I agree with some other posters. Think of something that has local/regional meaning. Or something that is very practical that she might not automatically have coming from China.

One idea is to give her a care package with a bunch of little stuff. Gift card to Starbucks, if there's public transportation, give her some bus or rail passes, snacks, a map of the city, gum, list of phone numbers, etc.
