You seem opposed to doing a mix of body weight movements. Just trying to help out. There are a ton of things you can do at home. |

Also think about switching up your running from constant steady state to soon other times and speed as well. You might want to consider doing 10 100m sprints with 1:00 rest in between and then do something long and slow for your next run like a slow 5 miler. Then for your next one drop down to 6 200m sprints with 1:30 rest between. Then jump up to 2x 3 mile runs at a faster pace than your 5 mile pace. Basically alternating between long and short ideally hitting the following distances: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1 mile, 1.5mile, 2 mile, 5k, 8k, 10k, and 10mile. You will eventually want to add longer stuff as well if you aspire to ever doing any distance running. That being said I don't think it's ever necessary to run longer than 10m just to be fit and running longer distances than that may actually make you LESS fit. Good luck an keep up the good work. 20 miles in a week is great! Now just think about adding higher intensity. |

Thanks Solly. I appreciate your support. I like the idea of sprinting hard then jogging.

Update- Down to 214 this morning. Ran another 17 miles already this week. I have using the sprinting jogging idea. Usually average 12:30 a mile now.

You're doing 200 25lbs curls and running 2.5 miles a day...
and think you're in bad shape?

Diet and cardio - one way ticket to fat loss.
Weight lifting will only net so much fat loss.

Burpees are a quick way to get a sweat going. Plus they exercise a ton of muscles. I don't think your 200 Bicep curls are helping your overall goal much.

Lol you guys kill me. Read the original post. I want simple. Eat better, workout more. I like doing the curls. It definetly makes a difference. Maybe not the most effective but I can do them at home. I know the curls are not working towards the love handles. That is what the running is for.

I bet you'd have better looking arms doing chin ups than curling 25's and have a better looking back and burn more cals. I know you want simple but 200 curls is not simple. I don't get why changing a movement is the opposite of simple to you. You just go from curling something to pulling up. Or lunging or pushups etc. You're running and curling. That's the weirdest combo ever. It's bro as hell lol. Last edited by DylloS; 01-27-2012 at 03:04 PM. |

I just started doing chin ups and pull ups again recently. Forgot how good of an upper body workout they are. Biceps, Triceps, Lats, Abs, Upper Back were all very sore next day.
If you want to lose the love handles I suggest more ab work. Side crunches, sit ups should help with your cardio. These are simple and can be done at home. Plus everything in life is easier with stronger abs Last edited by Hockeyman17; 01-27-2012 at 03:09 PM. |
