Im sorry but that's a bold face lie and your not going to convince one person on here that at 16 while driving an M3 you've never broken a speed limit. And if you truly never have then you are unlike any car guy I know and are truly one of a kind.

I believe a 16 yr old has potential to drive responsibly.. but not in most cases. I had a Nissan Hard Body first, then a 940 Volvo, then a 2005 325, now my M3. I did stupid stuff in all of them.

probably because we were all 16 year old drivers at one point in our lives.... I'm glad my first car was a slow POS.

never broke a speed limit? EVER? that's really, really hard to swallow, from a 16 year old male driving an M3. Especially since the "flow of traffic" is usually at least 5mph over the limit - and in CA, it's usually 20 over the limit on the freeways. My car isn't especially fast and it's not hard at all to be doing 90+ if you sneeze on the go-pedal.

maybe you're more responsible than most 16 year olds - fine, but don't kid yourself. most 16 year olds in a car like that are going to be a terror on the road.

I think you guys are starting to get a little bit ridiculous with this whole thing....EVERYONE has gone over the speed limit on occasion, but there is a difference between going 65 in a 55, and driving at a crazy speed....we don't need to be arguing over whether or not a 16 year old has "gone over the speed limit" because we all know EVERYONE has, the point some of the young ones seem to be making is that they are responsible drivers, and while some here fail to believe that, some people do happen to follow laws in this country still (I know that's hard to believe), driving over the limit and racing their cars are two different things...

I'm 17 and had my 325xi for 6 months (I worked 50 hour weeks and two jobs over the past two summers along with mowing lawns since I was 9). I can safely say that my car has never gone over 75mph. I've taken the "street survival" driving course along with drivers ed. I know that if I speed even once with my luck I'll get pulled over. Its not worth it to me.

Any kid 16 or 20 that "saved up enough money" to buy an M3 either has worked really hard from about age 10 (I am calling BS) and had someway of making more money than they are probably worth (worked for Mommy and Daddy), or M&D put in the other $15,000 once they saved up the $5,000 to go with it. When I was 20ish all I could do was worry about getting through college while driving a Fort Escort, amongst other Chrysler products. Man were they P's OS!
I'm 21, and have a m3 that I payed for myself. And my brother is also 21 and drives a 2011 ford raptor that he is paying for himself. My family lived in a difference province until about 2 months ago and they never had any sort of business that we could work at. So it is possible for a younger person to save up and buy one on there own. Granted that about %90 of younger people that have one most likely got money from there parents.

I'm 52 and new to this forum and BMW. Last Friday I purchased my new (used) 2005 325ci convertible and this also represents my first convertible. When I was 16, my first car was a '69 Opel GT!

Nothing wrong with owning a quick and responsive car at a young age in my opinion--- so long as one is totally focused on driving. Driving is the most likely the most dangerous thing we do--Stay safe and enjoy: these are wonderful cars!
