smeels like gas and rumbling noise

I would really appreciate some advice.

it smellis like gas (inside and outside the car) and there is a rumbling noise that can be heard only on the inside of the car and only when i press the gas.

i recently had gotten a flat and two days after driving with the spare (around 40miles) it started doing all this... could the problems be connected?

thanks

Depends exactly why you got the flat and how it was repaired. You can damage things underneath to fuel related lines that are exposed.

Do not drive the car with a strong fuel smell. I could be dangerous.

Start by getting the car up in the air and go over everything carefully.

i stopped driving it after that incident. Nothing was damaged during the flat - if i were to rate the "incident" it would be the "most average" flat. Tire popped and i pulled over.

Anyways, i put the car up on stands today and noticed that the leak was coming from the gearbox area and drops dripping down the gearbox.
Looked at the fuel lines too and everything was dry....

any ideas on what it could be?

When you say 'the leak', what is the fluid? Gas or oil?

its definitely gas. smells like gas. car was parked and unmoved for 2 days, tank went down 1/4.

what if it was oil?

the rumbling noise only happens when i accelerate.

If it was oil, you'd have another problem.

So good it was gas. Now your job is to look from higher than where it came from to track it down.
