IMO if you had to leave Miami it would be on presumably clogged highways, so I say motorcycle. That's assuming you can carry the necessary gear.

EDIT: Also if you plan for motorcycle escape, you still have the option for car escape. Not so the other way around.

You also can't use your motorcycle as a shelter for sleeping and protection from the elements.

Yea, thats why I'm thinking: tank bag, tail bag (no saddlebags) backpack. Its a sportbike, but Ive taken it on some pretty rough dirt/grass before. I can take off the belly pan too.

My S2000 is very small. The seat doesn't recline and I can't lay across the transmission tunnel or fit in the trunk. I agree it is some shelter, but its a fairly impractical car as for as average autos go.

Yep, but your car is the exception to the rule since most people have another vehicle at their disposal with more space. However, even having your car is better than having nothing. At least you can sit inside and be out of the rain or conditions. Supposing you are able to keep the vehicle fueled, you can use the vehicle for medical treatments for hypothermia or heat injury. Plus, eventually you will wind up hitting a deer, so it's a great hunting tool.

This get-up seems like the way to go, i'd like to build something similar, with just one bag. Easy to toss in the back of the plane.

It also makes me want to get an EBR/sopmod style rifle.

We have no snow on the ground here in Minnesota. It's pretty nice out. I'll be bugging out this evening to my deck to grill.

Snowstorms =/= bug out or bug in when you live in the "north". It means you shovel your walkway and drive to work, lol.

Now, 2 inches of snow in Texas might be a different story

Yeah, no kidding. We had that big snowmageddon last December and had 36" of snow. What'd I do? Went to work.

Does anyone here watch "Doomsday Preppers" on the Nat Geo channel? My wife says I'm addicted and cringes every time I say something like "hey, we should buy a couple of hundred acres up in the Ochocos and build a cabin out of storage containers!"

Some of "The Doomsday Preppers" on that show are on the obsessive side of preparation. Hilarious show with some great ideas, though

What's your plan for boiling water?

light my hair on fire? cotton balls in vaseline?

I'm going camping this summer (before Hurricane season) so I hope to learn by then. I also have clif bars and a water filtration straw. Can I suck the water up and spit it into the bag?

The straw is good, but you'll still need tablets. Those freeze-dried meals are meant to be used with boiling water.
