edan82's guide to hp gains

you have searched and learned your lesson... so, you want to gain a few hp.

intake: you want a long tube, something that will suck up cold air not a short ram that just sucks up hot air from the engine. I have a long tube intake and the sound alone is worth the upgrade and ya you gain say 5hp. Go for Dinan Long tube.

headers: you will be faced with a few decisions. Do you need to pass an emission test? if so you will need cats welded in and o2 sensors present. If not, just bolt em in. There are ebay headers, bimmerbrakes headers, active autowerke headers, supersprint headers. The prices range from 100 dollars to 1500 dollars. They will all yield similar gains. obviously the welds and materials are a bit better on the 1500 dollar headers, but ebay ones will work.

Differential: find out what gear ratio you have, got a 3.07? put in a 3.46. WOW my acceleration is so much better now!!! there are tons of threads on here and people selling diffs on here all the time.

supercharger: your car has low kms on it, however you have an automatic. it will still work perfect however it may bring it to an earlier death. you can rebuild it to make it stronger but its not worth your trouble.

exhaust: there are tons of brands on here... modbargains.com alone has like 10 different choices i think. as for gains maybe 7ish hp ?

tuning: heated debates all the time here. Jim Conforti's shark will give you a few ponies but wont get rid of that check engine light if you put headers on. Active autowerke's dme tuning has mixed reviews, and will tune to your mods but it will take a few weeks to ship your dme to them .

im just rambling dude just type in hp mods in the search there are some good threads here lol
