Ugh, sad to see that. He brought the car over a couple times for oil and to borrow tools, but I didn't expect it to turn out this bad. :/

Anyone on here know a little bit about older models? Like, waay older.. I just picked up a 1978 530i for $400 as a new project. the car's badged as an alpina model but is there a way to be certain about this? The engine definitely doesnt look like a B7 turbo and I had bmw run the VIN but the info that came up on the computer was limited. they were able to tell me the engine is an M30 but thats about it. Help?

1978 is an e12 body. so your best bet for info is http://www.firstfives.org/ then there s bimmerforums.com which is always good for info but have no specific subforum for your model car. also mye28.com can be helpful even though your car is its predecessor.

BMW did not keep tabs on cars the way they do now. They have very limited info on anything pre83. you might be able to find the build sheet of the car on the back of the rear seat this will give you a little more info.

Kalim, here are some semi finished pics...

Before my walls were like the grey color you see on the left..

Then I painted one wall red as you can see in the previous pic.

Then I painted the other walls a mute bluish color and framed the mirror.

Here is a before and after for framing the mirror. My dad did you a lot of the work.

I tried to do a fend sheu (sp?) Thing with the colors, plus I wanted them to liven up my room so it doesn't look so depressing and bland. I think i've succeeded.

Feng shui, lol.

Nice framing job on the mirror, dude. That red is about same color I'm planning on using for my room, too.
My old room used to be bleu ash, kinda like what that one wall is.
