1978 530i Alpina?

I need some assistance on this from someone who knows the older model bmw's. I just picked up a '78 530i and its badged as an Alpina model, but is there any way to check for sure? I already had BMW run the VIN and they said they're being limited to just the production date. Any help?

And btw, even if its not an alpina how can I get some specs on this car? BMW was able to confirm a M30 engine 3.0 but now is that the 176 hp or 184?

Pretty sure for the E12, the only engine offered on the 530i was the 176 hp 3.0, or the 200hp 3.0 in the "motorsport limited edition" model.

Don't quote me on any of this however, look it up yourself.
