Post The BMW i8 Concept Spyder is here -- a 354hp hybrid sports car!

BMW i8 Concept Spyder

Almost everyone has seen the BMW i8 concept that was featured in last year's Hollywood hit Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol but now BMW is showing off the BMW i8 Concept Spyder as one more car in the BMW i line up. The i8 Concept Spyder is an open-top two-seater with true sports car performance from a hybrid design (354 hp) with almost unbelievable fuel economy (up to 94 mpg).

Dang, you got to it first. Can't believe it's going into production.

Wonder what the price will be. I have heard rumours in the $300Ks. Ughl

These are just renderings, this car is probably at least 5 years from production.

I thought it was supposed to be released in the 2013 model year. 5 more years? Good if I start saving my pennies now I might be able to afford one of the tires. LOL.

I can only hope and dream that the price will be realistic and I will be able to buy one.

OK maybe 5 years is a bit much, but its not uncommon for roadster/cabrio variations of cars to come along 1-3 years after then coupe/sedan.

Its historically time to market from a rendering only stage is ~5 years.

Id also be shocked if BMW put out a car that looked this much like something out of star wars... Personally id be embarrassed driving that thing around it looks like a UFO.

I would love to be able to get one of them. If I had won the mega-million lottery I would have the 1st or one of the 1st ones! LOL.

I don't like it, if i spent that much on a car I don't think I would care about gas mileage even a little. They should put the v10 from the e60 m5 in it and send the power to the rear wheels with a 6 speed, then it would be great. It's supposed to be the ultimate driving machine, not a boring hybrid.
