i think it is one of those issues that is car specific/blown kind of out of proportion. i have a friend with an n54 with 125k miles, he has never had an issue. any pump can fail at any time. i am pretty sure the recall addresses any problems and if it doesn't it's under a 120kmi warranty

It's a step. DCT only became an option for the 1 for MY 2011

ya step. I was really surprised at how far the transmission technology has come since the e46 era. this transmission does nott feel like my e46 did. shifts are much much more agressive

I felt exactly the same when I drove one. The automatic transmission is AMAZING. Shifts are ultra fast and firm. It feels like dct but with slightly slower shifts. None of the horrible slushiness of the e46 autos where you are cruising at 2k rpm, you floor it, the engine revs up to 3k before the torque converter locks and you finally start accelerating.

Just have to plan ahead, start cruising at 3k before you floor it

I'm sure the 1's fun to drive, and the price is much more appealing than the E90/E92's, but that front end definitely needs a facelift. In all honesty, I'll probably be looking to upgrade in about a year, and if I end up with a 1, first mod will be integrated eyelids like this:

^damn , that does look good. I agree it has different proportions for sure, but it really grows on you. people out in the town love it lol . i cant drive it anywhere without people coming up to me and complimenting. my stance on it is that it is kind of fun having an exotic/different looking car. better than boring at least.
that being said i believe 2013 will be the new model anyways so that will be interesting.

Beautiful car man, BUT...BUT...I would kill for that red Mustang in your first picture. Here in Australia, that car would stand out. I would look great in it

Hey thanks so much for the write up. I am actually thinking about going to a 135i, but would love to get into a 2011 with DCT. Can you comment on a few things for me:

1. Going from an E46, you get more looks/less, as far as compliments, etc.
2. The over driving feel, from what I've experienced it feels like a smoother verison of the E46 M3, would you agree?
3. How has your MPG number increased?
4. Have you considered getting the chip which adds about 80hp?

I am asking becuase My m3 might be totaled out and this might be a good step for me. I need a well behaved highway car, with good power/efficiency ratio, and of course I need a car that won't be un noticed. I'm thinking 335i coupe, Audi S5, 135i, or even possibly an 2008 M3 (I know the MPG's suck on this). FYI: I typically drive 32-34k a year.

No problem man.
1. Not that it matters that much but the car does get A LOT of attention. lol at this question.
2. For sure. this is pretty much how i would describe it, and the turbos add a nice dynamic. the exhaust note on this car is it reminds me of an f1 car. it is a quick little beast.
3. MPG is so so lol.
4. My friend got the JB4 and it is innnnnnsane. but i plan to keep mine stock.

Thanks for the rapid responses.

1. The attention definitely isn't a huge factor, but if I didn't want to stand out a bit or wanted to blend in I would opt for a 'common' 335i coupe. The E46 M3 IMO with the ZCP wheels, really stood out, and I felt confident/satisfied driving it. I guess its a personal preference.
2. Perfect.
3. Any numbers of where you stand, with city/highway, and combined? Its listed at 18/26 I think. I got 21combined with my M3, (which was listed 16/24)
4. Yeah I think my buddy had his chipped and its definitely quite fast.

Sub'd.

I'm wanting a new car sometime soon.....preferably a coupe and preferably a BMW which kind of limits me to a 135i, 335i or an E46 M3.

Do it. You won't regret it! I used to think my MS6 was pretty sweet through the corners but the 135 in stock form puts it to shame lol

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=669758

minus that hideous cupholder lol. i will do an mpg calculation and get back to you... def a lot worse than my 325i e46 though lol. i get a lot of people complimenting me on the car.. i think mostly because of the wheels though lol. i have the e46 m3 19" csl wheels. my only gripe is for some reason the PO got 7.5's all around which is ok i mean they are very nice wheels and tires but i break loose very very easy with them. .as i understand you can run up to 9 width on the back. not sure why they went with a square 7.5 setup. but i can't complain and he did the clear bra as well.
