I was wondering about the carry course. Where are they located at?

Oh that's right- they do the courses over by Braemar at the South Metro Public Safety Training Facility.

I haven't heard anything. I did some training at SMPSTF a couple weeks ago during the days and we had to clean up the place every afternoon because they were having the carry classes in the evening. The name sounded familiar when you mentioned it, and then I remembered.

Trying to decide on a belt for everyday wear/ccw/oc wear and to be able to use in classes. Think im going to go with an ares ranger belt or wilderness instructor belt. Any suggestions or reviews on them?

EDC belt would be a lot different than a training/class belt, unless the class is an EDC/CCW class.
There are lots of good quality belts out there for EDC. I really couldn't narrow any down for that. I like Crossbreed's belts, but to each their own. For tactical and training use, I like the HSGI Cobra Riggers Belt. You can get it customized exactly how you want it from their website. For training use, I got it without the D-Ring. By far the best training and tactical belt I've ever owned.

Looking for a new belt since I just cancelled my order on a Blackhawk leather belt at a local store, after waiting 4 weeks (I don't mind waiting that long for a custom order...in this case it was just a generic belt)
Has anyone used the Ranger belt? http://www.aresgear.com/index.php?ma...&products_id=6 I work in a business casual environment so I wear jeans and khakis 95% of the time. |

I have not heard much on it. However, check out the HSGI Cobra Riggers Belt. It's fully customizable (scroll to the bottom) and I have two of them, both configured differently. It's the best damn belt I've ever used. You can get it within 1-2 weeks.

That looks pretty good, but they appear to be 1.75 inches wide......do those fit in jeans? I haven't measured, but I thought 1.5 was the width of Jeans belt loops.
I'm also kinda confused/clueless to some of the drop down options for customization. I just googled D-ring and *think* i know what that is, but what is the "Loop Material" option all about? Other than looks, what are the pros and cons of woven nylon vs leather? (I was just browsing the Beltman site http://thebeltman.net/bh112.htm) |

Loop Material means hook-and-loop/velcro. The loop is the fuzzy soft stuff. The loop material is for attaching a duty belt or other stiff belt. One of those things where if you have to ask what it is, or what it's for, you likely don't need it.
The D-ring is that rigger's d-ring on the right side of the picture that you would hook a carabiner or rope to. If you don't need it, omit it. It's more of a nuisance than anything. Nylon is more durable and weather resistant than leather over time. Leather tends to be stiffer, and obviously has better aesthetics.

I've got a basic blackhawk rigger's belt that's great. Very sturdy, thick nylon. Hook/loop closure, d-ring attachment on the front

It's sort of a beginner's belt, and belts like the ARES and HSGI belts are more "advanced" by their design and capability. With a training/carry belt made of nylon, it's a good idea to get one that's stiffer. I also highly recommend getting one with a COBRA buckle, since they're faster. If you ever have to drop trou and you have gear attached to your belt, standard buckles tend to be problematic if you have your gear/pouches further forward on your belt. You can't go wrong either way though. It's all about your personal preference.

I have noticed that I have to set the tension on a holster lower than I'd normally like to be able to easily draw it without pulling on the belt. I'll have to shop a bit.
