Talking NEWby: First Bimmer/First Car M3e46 : HI

Salutations! I stand here today as an extremely happy owner of a 02'BMW'M3 (Titanium Silver) that i got on March 9 2012. This will not only be my first bimmer but makes for my first car as well. Ive worked hard to get my baby beside me and i know I'll work harder to maintain this beast.

Glad to join the e46Fanatics Forum

Thank you,

Firstly, congratulations.

Secondly, I'm going to have to say that the E46 M3 is not a "good" first car to have, for anyone. It is arguably a great third, fourth, fifth, eleven-teenth car... but for a handful of reasons, it's not a good first car.

Enjoy in good health, and I hope it doesn't end up costing you both arms, legs, kidneys, plasma and sperm... especially not mixed together.

Where in CO are you?
-Chris

Thank you,
It sure hasn't been the first time ive heard that. But defiantly was a decision for me for which, despite the words of a few people, i decided to take. I just never really liked the idea of having to start with a beat up car. I wanted to do different by getting the car i wanted if i could. Where i would be against, would be if i didn't take into consideration on anything about the car and if i was completely clueless of what i took into my hands. But that isnt the case, I do my research and sure we learn better by doing, this is my approach to learn completely but backed up with 3 years of an obsession for this car It just couldnt feel any more correctly to do this!

yeah believe me when i tell you that i wouldn't want that either.

Im at Longmont, CO

Congratulations to you kid, I'd be proud of myself too. You got yourself the M3 you always wanted, now take the time to get to know her.

Congrats man. I also recently bought my first bimmer and car. Went against having a beat up car just to go from point a to b. Rather have a nice car for a long time that I can enjoy driving everywhere.

@silverfox325i - thanks!, most definitely will

@greyVice - thanks!, yeah man, agreed! This is the car that I see myself in for a long time. Congrats to you too. Glad to join the 'I don't wanna deal with that 4 cylinder Honda engine' team
(i got nothing against Hondas, I have seen some greatly built cars out of them, mad respect to those who have)

I used to build Hondas too. Fun cars with the right amount of money dumped into the suspension. Plug and play motorswaps make adding power easy too. In the end its still now a BMW.

@silverfox- Yeah, fun cars, my brother had an accord and civic when I was younger, and really fell in love with the cars from being around them so much, but as I got older I decided to go for a BMW.

@BBBoy323i- thank you, I am attending college, and will continue to do so. Yes I will, and i wanted a stock car to moddify at my liking.

Welcome! We need more people in the M3 forum. Especially younger people! I'm probably a lot younger than you though. My M3 was my third car. And I still have my first car.
Any mods planned? You going to reinforce the subframe? Has inspection 2 been done?

@bbboy- will stop by sometime thank you

@illestminimike- you might be .. How old are? ... Yeah I'm working on getting the car on better shape, I needed new rotors or shave the st,ock ones but I decided to go for some drilled and slotted once, chaned my interior lighting to LED's and my shock or springs need to be replaced, maybe some coil overs sometime this year, but I do need to get it protectant inspected, as far as my subframe, I might need BMW to look into that for me.

How's your car driving? Any issues?

Well I think you should do a little research into finding a nice Indy shop in your area that you can trust, and start addressing those issues. Sometimes it's hard though, they either charge a small fortune or do crappy work. Luckily I've been growing up building cars so I can do most of the work. Check out the DIY section and the DIY sticky thread. There's lots of great information and you can learn how to do everything on there. ALWAYS SEARCH BEFORE MAKIKG THREADS! Enjoy the car but put its health before your entertainment.

Btw i just turned 17 on Saturday. And yes I have an M3. Check out my post in the "how old are you" thread before you flame me.

Welcome to the forum. You are very lucky to have a M3 as your first car and a nice one too. I'm 42 and on my 2nd BMW and I hope to buy a M3 some day but I do love my 330ci. There lots to see and learn on this site I just started in December of this year and I love it. Have fun with your new car.
