About to change the market for OEM Sirius units! Reman units available from BMW!
Anyone that's trying to add Sirius to their BMW knows the frustration of the costs of these units. A new unit is $500 because it's sold with 1 year of subscription included. Used units routinely go for close to $300!
Well, I've discovered a solution. BMW sells a remanufactured unit for $265!! (from Tischer or your local dealer). Old part #'s (when looking for a used unit): 84110141981 1st generation for units without OEM Navigation 84110153365 1st generation for units with OEM Navigation 65120398140 2nd generation 65120416377 3rd generation sold only with 1 year subscription New generation units: 65120440550 65120439436 (current) That -436 unit has a remanufactured version available: Part # 65120439437. There is no core charge at this time either.

Interesting... So the refurbed unit I ordered, comes in a box labeled 65120439437.
Inside is a unit labeled 65120440550. It's an Alpine unit, and it displays more text on the screen (at least in my X3) than the older Chinese unit (2nd generation)

-550 is the newest! Can you test it for the noise on the ipod connection off the Sirius unit? Similar to the problems the gen2 and gen3 had.

An 02 needs the radio swapped. On nav cars its in the trunk, and the radio is 300 or so. The update radio is nice because it supports AUX input as well...

A year subs of Sirius now cost $140?! ![]() Sooooo glad I got me a LIFETIME subscription years ago when the yearly subs were costing around $100. Also the quality of music based stations since Sirius merged with XM has gotten really horrible over the years! The music rotation on some stations like HITS, CHILL, HIP HOP and ALT always seem to be looping the same old dusty songs over and over for the last 3 years. Other stations like SHADE45, FoxHole, Howard Stern now have annoying commercial breaks as if you were listening to free AM/FM radio. At least with the free AM/FM radio you tend to get exposed to new music quicker than I've been finding with Sirius. Like all those new Rick Ross, Lil' Wayne, Drake songs that have come out since the new years you will never hear on Sirius but FM stations will be playing them. However, if you love talk radio, sports radio, indi-music, rare/world music, then Sirius will be worth it to you. That said, Steve is onto something. So buy these units! I will buy mine just to get the extra line of text and faster performance.

But yeah, the extra text display is worth it... And yep, Sirius is like $15 a month now or something ridiculous...

In 12/2008 I paid $149 off eBay (discounted from $499 retail at the time) for my lifetime sub with 5 free radio transfers/$73 per transfer after. I was lucky but soon realized SiriusXM was not as great as Sirius used to be. When I first got Sirius as a xmas gift in 12/2004 it was sold in a way that you paid $12 per month each month or you could opt to pay $9.95 per month each 6 months or $7.95 per month each year. This included free internet streaming as well which is now extra. I was so pleased with Sirius back then that I renewed my gift into an annual subscription a year later in 12/2005 and for some reason my Sirius radio kept playing music for free until 6/2008 when I was finally asked to pay for it. Bythen they had merged with XM and the commercials were not cool so I refused to pay for an annual but opted to find a Lifetime instead. Which when I finally did find one on eBay for $149 I was super exstatic!

I've been wanting to get my sirius into my zhp, are the new and refurb part numbers for all radios, or is that just for the nav like you have? I'm having trouble getting info on what the refurb unit goes with.

Nav is irrelevant in everything bust 1st gen units. The only thing that matters is the trunk brackets to order the right install kit. Does your trunk have the fold down opening in the carpet on the left hand side where a CD changer would presumably go?
Just buy these. 65120439437 Sirius radio 84110392099 Sirius antenna 84110141976 Install kit. The install kit is linked above in the PDF... It contains a bunch of screws etc. Only other thing--do you have a DICE or some other iPod device? If so, you need the slave cable, part # 84110150526

If you have the Intravee already, then you could just go for one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sirius-Satel...e31c36&vxp=mtr only $15.99 and almost OEM functionality.

Let me know the details, I just re-upped for my year and added my wife's car (my year was 'free' though since it came with my BMW sirius kit). I have had Sirius since 2000 or so. I should have bought the lifetime then for $300 vs the $100 it was for the year. |

sna77, can you help me by chance?? You seem to be the go to expert E46 related anyway, and just thought I'd ask. I am pulling my hair out at this end... I have bought 3 diff BMW Sirius tuners off the interweb in hopes of installing in my wifes E70 X5. It's an '08 and I stumbled upon this thread of your (I have an '02 vert as well), with these new units. So, being the good little internet searcher that I think I am, I found the new & old part numbers of the module I needed for the E70 and ordered. Well, it arrived today, all excited like a junior on prom night, I went to the garage to install, and lo & behold, she no workie. I have attached a pic of what I've got and a close up of the end of the cables for the Sirius. Can you point me at all? If not, no worries and carry on...

noooooo. these sirius units wont work on an e70. that car has a fiber optic most bus. you cant use a kbus sirius adapter with it. your car will also need to be coded. contact our local dealer for the part number for that car... theyll need to install it unless you have coding tools for a fiber bus (you wont)
