FS- SWAP MY 4.10 Diff for your Stock Differential
selling car.
Anyhow, i am looking for someone who is preferably local to the bay area (within 100 miles) of San Jose, CA who is interested in going to 4.10 gears. I purchased a ring and pinion and had Dick @ dynospot racing build this diff for me. cost was $2k. the 4.10 has about 20k miles on it. This is hands down the best performance modification I have done to my E46M3. Car pulls hard in every gear. to purchase a 4.10 diff would cost you around $2200~ including sending your stock diff back for a refund of the core charge + whatever your shop charges you. I am asking $1400 OBO for this. This would consist basically of us swapping differentials. You would also pay me cash on top for my 4.10. You would also be responsible for the labor charge to a shop. A shop should charge around 200-300 per car for this swap. I am willing to drive 50 or so miles from West San Jose, CA to make this happen if we can agree on a price. If you are a DIY guru and can do the entire swap on your own, and have done diff installs before, i can meet you at your residence to have this done. serious buyers PM me with best offer. you can also contact me on my cell 408-568-7684. thanks. -Will

bump. i am willing to ship this, however, you would need to ship me your diff which is fully built, as well as pay for my shipping costs to send this to you and $300 to cover the cost of installing your diff and removing mine...

okay. so i have gotten a ton of text requests about this. so i am opening this up to non bay area owners.
here is how the procedure would work. if you want to purchase the diff and you need me to ship. this is what we can do. 1.you will send me your diff (fully built). then paypal + 1400 for the 4.10s. + shipping (which would be however much it was to ship your diff to me). You would also be paying me $300 to have a shop remove my 4.10 and put in your stock diff. i was quoted 500 for this but i think i may be able to get it for a little less, if not ill pay the difference. after my 4.10 is removed, i will send it to you. i have bought and sold many things here and am not trying to scam anyone. i will give full telephone# and address to the buyer and would like to speak with you on the phone to do the deal. i will even make the last part, cash on delivery. meaning if you feel more comfortable... ill take 1400+ shipping upfront and i will mail the diff cash on delivery for the last 300. of course as a buyer you would be responsible for any COD fees.

$1850 vs $2k= a saving of $150 for a 20k mileage unit.. Is the price negotiable?

if you can do it in an hour and a half, more power to you. i cannot and will not attempt to do this since i am not that savvy with fixing cars. shops here in CA charge about 120/hr for labor, and ive called 3 shops all quoted me at least 400. diff lock is 40 pct. not sure about the other aspects of your specs.

it would cost you more than 2k. i believe diffsonline pricing is 2499. the cheapest ive ever seen is 2200. and that would be a savings of 350. but lets get down to logistics. i will take 1700 + the price of you shipping your diff. not sure how much that would cost but the 1700 would include on my end the purchase price of the diff, the labor i need to swap in/out, and me shipping you the 4.10.

you forgot that you have to buy shims and crush seals... if you want to do it yourself thats fine, but to fabricate a diff from just a ring/pinion, will take you 6-10 hours of labor. because theres no way in heck you are buying a 4.10 fully built diff for $804. sorry.

the charge for swapping in a fully built diff, is probably somewhere around 300. and lets just say that this is not something you wanna do buy yourself unless you know what youre doing.
