Surface Oxidation on 870

As some of you know, I picked up recently a Remington 870 Wingmaster.

The action is smooth on it, the interior of the barrel is clean, and cycles fine...however there is some oxidation on the metal body of the gun and a little on the upper barrel.

I have no clue how long it's been on there, as I know that if it's been on there long enough it could cause some pitting.

Any proper way I can remove this safely? This isn't something to be concerned about should it?

I'll try to get pics up. Kinda limited though.

Depends on how picky you are about guns.

If its something collectable use oil and a rag, possably some light steel wool.

Since this is just a 870 that has no sentimental attachment I would clean the rust off with steel wool, polish the pitting with FINE FINE FINE grade wet sand paper and then coat with a product like duracoat.

Easiest DIY is the new shake and spray setup, no need for a sprayer or air.
