An '06 ZHP can be quite seductive but your car + $18K is crazy. I would look long and hard at your finances and decide if it's a wise move. I've seen ads for ZHP's in good condition for $16K, so I'd take a look at ZHPMafia as a reference. The dealer really doesn't sound like a BMW enthusiast, he sounds like he wants to get the most for his vehicle and you want desperately to get out of yours.

after talking with OP, He's looking at paying $18k for the new car, getting $2500 for his for a trade difference of $15,5. I still think he can do better on the trade in, but where I live I never see ZHP's for sale and what they actually sell for. Thoughts on $18k for the car? Seems a bit much to me as you can get an M3 for not much more.

Even that is overpriced. I got mine which is identical to that one in options, but with 59k miles for $12k. Oh, and in Toledo blue, which is a far better and rarer exterior color. Steel grey Z4's are a dime a dozen. You'd be paying over 14 cents per mile more just to get ~35k miles less. Average depreciation on the high end non-M Z4's is more like 3-5 cents per mile.

You know you are not marking Performance Package when you do those pricing things to compare that ZHP to?

Was just giving an example of what he can get for that price. I like Toledo blue on verts, but my coupe is Steel gray(which I love).

But I guess OP has already made up his mind. His money his car. Hopefully it turns out to be a good decision for him.

Am I the only person who thinks that previous up to date maintenance is more important than mileage? To me mileage is nothing more than a bargaining tool most of the time. Seriously, just make sure the records are up to date, and it's in good shape and forget about finding one with "low mileage", it's not worth the extra $7000 just because the mileage is "low", it's a BMW, not a Cadillac.

Agreed.

Mine has 286,600 miles, and well maintained by me personally.
