Yes it is very hard to find and out of production....I think a dealer in Atlanta has some for almost $200......come up if you google the part # which is on this forum if you search.
Most people , as well as I modify the existing trim piece to accept the Homelink/UGDO. The only difference between the parts are the trim pieces.
I did mine after buying new plastic cover and plastic frame just incase I screwed it up.....if you take your time and do it slowly it will turn out great....some people hot glued it to the trim, others and I used silicone sealent. IThe new trim pieces cost about $12 with a BMWCCA discount....20 to 25% more with out
Good Luck.....its definitely worth doing, safer if you ever leave the car outside and it is broken into ,as it only works with the igniion on.

The updated thing to do is simply replace the mirror with a BMW one with Home Link which is NO harder to do....

Homelink is a MUST DO in my book

I just bought a home link mirror off of eBay. Btw I called that BMW dealership in Atlanta & they no longer stock the part.
