E36 fuel problem! Help

I have a 92 e36 325i and I just recently found a crack in the fuel pump assembly where you plug in the power for the pump so I removed it and put a sealer on it for a quik fix so it wouldn't leak till I get my new one. So after I put everything back together and plugged it back in I went to start the car after letting the fuel pressure to build up and it started then died. Tryed to start it again and again it started up the just died right after. I have no clue what the prob might be and pointers on what to check?
