What BBK kits are the best value? The obvious PFC, Brembo and StopTech are all like $6-7k. Preferably looking for E92 M3 fitment.

Damn andy, I thought you were done modding for a while lol. Anyways, here is what I will get if/when I do a brake kit. Its pretty far down on the list, since there is so much more to do beforehand (pole positions, various cf bits, exhaust, etc.)
http://www.ecstuning.com/News/E36_E4...rformance_BBK/ I would also see about machining the 135i rears to fit as well so I don't just have 135i fronts (thats what these are, 135i brakes). The brakes are made by brembo, and at 1200 are a bargain. Also, I'm pretty sure these aren't m3 fitment. So my post is useless.

I thought so too, but I'm already getting bored

Dinan is way overrated IMO. But damn those are some serious gains from boring and stroking an extra .6 liters out of it, and I trust that Dinan knows what they are doing.
I feel like the 135i brakes ( both front and rear) would fit on an e90. If so I'd do that, that is a serious bargain for what you get (6 piston brembo fronts, cross drilled rotors, 2 piston rears).

its 4.0 stock. pretty good alternative to FI imo. comes with a 4 year warranty. Dinan builds the engines for the ALMS series, so hopefully they know what they're doing. I know they are very conservative sometimes and obviously overprised, but for $6k I think a new engine is worth it.
Were thinking about a modded E92 M3 with dct for my dad now. Even with a dinan engine, brakes, cf, wheels, nicest suspention I can figure out... it'll all be cheaper than a new M5. |

6k actually seems really reasonable for that much work. Engine work gets expensive fast. You're talking new pistons, con rods, crank, on top of boring and honing the cylinders, and all the extra goodies they throw on top. Plus a new tune, etc, they give it to you as a long block, warranty, etc. Usually I would say Dinan is overpriced for modest gains but I actually think this is a bargain, especially given their expertise.

![]() You add those two numbers together then you get your "core" price back when you send in a good working core. But $26K for that isn't bad...

I didnt even read the link last night, I thought you were still talking about a BBK for 6k... Yea that engine is 46k and you might get 20k back for a good core. I'd do a coyote 5.0 conversion for that price(new mustang 5.0). |

Also, these numbers do no impress me for 26k.
Peak Horsepower: 527@ 7800 rpm - maximum gain of 129 hp @ 6000 rpm Peak Torque: 407 lb-ft @ 5200 rpm - maximum gain of 124 lb-ft @ 5200 rpm |

Don't compare BMW to Ford. BMW designs engines right the first time where ford just throws crap together and lets engine builders take care of it by porting, polishing, stroking, head work..........................Just think what would happen if they took one of those massive 5.0 motors and did it right the first time. Sh1t, what's a 5.0 make from the factory? It's damn near the same as my 10 year old 3.2 I6 S54.

I wasnt comparing Ford to BMW, I was comparing that "adding" power to something that isnt impressive to begin with, doesnt make it impressive. |

I AM however impressed with the stock engine, 420bhp N/A V8 is always respectable.
But to pay 26,000 just to gain ~120hp is silly, unless that is the only way to stay in a certain race class or something like that. |

I'm just giving you a hard time about Ford. Unless it's a Ford with Motons then it's uber ghey to me.
