M54 / MS43 with cable throttle?

Hey guys,

Any idea if it's possible to convert the M54 with MS43 DME to a cable-actuated throttle body? Will the throttle body from, say, a '95 M3 bolt up or is it a completely different size / bolt pattern?

I know some E46s had throttle cables but were still drive-by-wire throttle bodies - not interested in that. I want a direct link between my foot and the throttle body. Just curious if it's been done.

there's a lot more to just changing out the throttle body hardware. the ecu tune/logic, dsc, etc. is all based on the dbw throttle.

i would venture to say that it's not worth the coding, tuning, custom fabrication, etc. that would be required to implement it.

It may not be worth it to you, but it is certainly worth it to me.

I think ultimately this will be something I solve with a Megasquirt, but I'm not there yet so I was hoping for an interim solution.

it has been done, there is someone on this forum who is running an e30 m54b30 swap and he is running MS3 with a throttle cable. i think his name is hoveringguy or something like that.

It's Hoveringuy. His name is Steve. His is a custom 3.5" cable driven TB using the M20 gas pedal.

FWIW, The M52tu is cable driven. The electronics are for the throttle position sensor and the cruise control. I move the pedal and the valve opens in sync. It is no different than an e36 throttle body.
