I read somewhere its better for the harmonics as well as the turbo spool up to keep the dual mass.

I've put nearly 6K miles on my F1 Racing STG2 kit. Apart from the chatter at idle, I love it. It grabs so nicely and feels almost stock except when depressing the pedal for more than 30s, lol.

Well see its all about the monies man, I'd love me a bada55 flywheel and clutch to but its just to dang expensive. F1 Racing offers a great clutch and flywheel thats perfect for the price.

I can get a M3 pressure plate for free. Do you think that will hold over for a little bit?

Love the roof rack....I might get one for my 330i.
And for the work involved...are you sure you wouldn't rather wait for the new clutch? Last edited by PEI330Ci; 05-22-2012 at 09:51 PM. |

Agreed ^^^^ For the amount of work involved I would just get a new clutch. Remember you gotta pull the tranny out. Not exactly an hour job. If your low on cash, just get an F1 stage 3 clutch, it comes with a 15lb lightweight flywheel. You can order either from their website or you can get them on ebay for around $550. You get a nice 6-puck design plus a lightweight flywheel for under a grand. Just save yourself the trouble and work and just do it right the first time.

If I had a manual transmission in the 330i, I'd go with an FX-850. I realize this is a bit outside of the program....but I just thought I'd mention it.

Here's the clutch setup I use on my Stage2 turbo'd 330.......it's held up just fine thus far after MANY WOT throttle runs (no slipping whatsoever):
- stock E46 M3 pressure plate - ClutchNet Stage2 (yellow) Kevlar solid hub disc - stock 330 dual mass flywheel - stock 330 throwout bearing

No, it wouldn't. It would chatter at idle, the idle would dip upon re-entry into idle mode, and if using an aluminum flywheel with steel friction surface, I'm betting the clutch life would be much reduced.

Their is plenty of people with fully built cars that have no problems whats so ever as you are describing. Not saying that problem does not exist cause it does but a lot of people dont have that according to what i've heard from actual owners of good clutch kits and aftermarket flywheels.

Nick is giving advice on hardware for a vehicle that has his turbo kit installed. Changing the flywheel inertia has an effect on the idle control strategy....that's the one that I think most people would be the most sensitive about. The DME does have some adaptation, but it cant compensate for a 50% reduction in inertia with only a 17% compensation limit. (Just an example) |

6 speed. I'm not sure if this comes with everything the 5 speed version does. http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E46-330...tch/ES2523946/ |
