I have the Escort 8500 and love it, much lighter than the V1, and I believe has newer technology as the V1 has been around for like 10 years, 8500 1 year. I know what you guys are saying about the arrows. However, as soon as mine starts to chirp, I SLOW DOWN, don't care which direction it's coming from. From what I have read about radar (not much), it's nearly impossible for a moving bogey in back of you to accurately clock your speed, unless he is right behind you, in which case, I think you would be going the speed limit anyways. But everyone is different, so get what's right for you, can't go wrong with either for most bands. If Ka is widely used in your area, I would get the 8500, as it beats the v1 no problem. just my .02 |

Steelblue and I are on the same page!
The V-1 is updated so that you always have the latest http://www.valentine1.com/upgrades/ As for the arrows and slowing down, you are correct. We all react when the detector goes off. However, only the arrows and a V-1 can provide you with protection in these circumstances. http://www.valentine1.com/moments/momoriginal.asp http://www.valentine1.com/moments/mom0702.asp http://www.valentine1.com/moments/mom1201.asp VG1 in english is a unit that detects that a radar detector is in a car (for those places where radar detectors are illegal). Mike Valentine thinks of it all. I like the new V-1 travel case as I always worried about it when I carried my V-1 in my backpack on the plane. V-1's work great in rental cars
