E46 overheat

So far on my 2004 325i, i have replaced the overflow tank, the plastic piece that sits right behind the radiator that the overflow attaches onto, (forgot the name) the tranny cooler, thermostat. All the antifreeze is in there. Sometimes when i drive, and let it sit for a little bit, it starts over heating ( I have not filled up my A/c yet if that matters) but as soon as i start driving, it goes back down to normal. ALSO when i drive, sometimes when im just slowly accelerating at 55+, the car jerks a little bit.

is your car manual?
check your radiator fan functionality. I think its not cooling the engine when you are sitting.

Nope, Auto, and that baby is always on when the car is idling, i can hear it lol

well then the fan clutch is shot. which means its constantly slipping at slow speed and wont pick up when engine is getting warm.
when I have my AC on, every time I pull away from a red light, the fan was so loud I could hear it with windows up. then it quietens down as I pick up some speed.

Your car overheated for one simple reason: you did not follow my thread.

Fan clutch as jasonbimmer suggested is the most likely culprit, also bleeding the system correctly is a huge part. There are numerous threads on the correct procedure.

Like jason said, sounds like the fan clutch since the car gets down to temp when your moving, look into it.

I'd still recommend checking out Mango's thread on the cooling system regardless, sounds like you didn't replace the water pump, which is needed given it could go at any second.

Yes and make sure any bleeding procedure you follow doesn't tell you to warm up the engine or run it.

I only have 59k miles though.. shouldn't my water pump be fine?
