When you wake up you should eat ASAP. You wanna do everything you can to avoid being In a catabolic mode: eat every 3 hours and go to bed with a casein shake (slow absorbing protein for over night) I personally wake up have 2 cups of milk with 2 scoops of serious mass and peanut butter and some oj and I rush out the door. So I get that we don't usually have time in the am for a big elaborate breakfast . After my first 2 morning clients ill have an official breakfast usually ham egg cheese hero or roll , fruits , oatmeal, and oj again.

As a true hard gainer ecto , I prioritize eating over workouts, If I feel like I haven't eaten enough or kept my cals high, I won't dare workout because than it is counter productive and I am doing more harm than good, burning more calories working out and being in a deficit instead of overall surplus.

As far as spotters, you won't half ass a workout because you can't go your full potential, therefore ask a stranger , usually the most serious or disciplined looking guy in the place.
I'm kind of busy so i can't post links but I think the whole eat every few hours is a little bro science. I think a lot of stuff has recently come out that conflicted with it. Calories in vs out and quality of cals are pretty much what the research is showing now. IE intermittent fasting and programs like that

I won't touch on intermittent fasting because I think that dude is a clown.

With that said, I'd make three points:

1) I still believe there is benefit of the constant nutrient stream for competitive bodybuilders.
2) as most people are not competitive bodybuilders, I don't think it's necessarily imperative to follow the 2-3 hour religious schedule.
3) I still hold that the first and last meals are very important and that an I.F. schedule is insufficient as it does not allow for a proper pre-bed meal.

Also, all studies should be taken with a grain of salt as there is not sufficient ability to hold anything as a control on a broad basis.

I really don't work my schedule around eating. I eat when I have time to cook and it usually works out to be every 3 and a half hours. I snack in between though, usually on fruits, veggies, nuts, GF pretzels.
Today is the first time I'm doing strictly legs at the gym in a LONG time (probably 3 months). I was neglecting them a lot, but since I started cycling I see a huge difference in my legs so I want to work on my wheels.

does this split sound like over training?

Monday --> Back/Bicep
Tuesday --> Chest/Tricep
Wednesday --> legs + core
Thursday --> rest
Friday --> arms + shoulders
Saturday --> rest
Sunday --> rest

I've been getting poor quality sleep, dunno if going to the gym has anything to do with it.

instead of partying tonight I went to the gym @ 10pm and made a late night meal afterwards. I feel pretty good and I'm going to bed now. Shhhh no tears, only dreams now.

Hahaha you crack me up man. I didn't go out either because a bunch of us are going to the beach so we're getting up early. Tonight I'll be stupid and drunk.

I usually workout around 11pm, get done around 1130-1140, shower, drink my shake and at about 1220 I would feel sleepy and knock out. If anything, working out late at night gets me to sleep quicker.

Edit: I usually knock out straight with no interuptions until 9 am. But I would still be sleepy when I wake up, so I don't know if that's quality sleep or not. I mean my sleep is good and all.

I actually like that routine a lot. I like how it incorporates power lift rep ranges, typical rep ranges, and burn out sets. Seems like a good program that will be pretty fun.

Glad you enjoyed it.....I haven't been to that beach in a few years, but hopefully when I go to visit my brother this summer I'll be able to at least swing by that area.

I think I'll be trying this....looks fun and I like the structure of it. I'll have to wait a day or two, I did a charity bootcamp this weekend and I don't think I've been as sore as I am right now in years, lol.

did any of you guys start that 5 day routine? I started it yesterday doing chest/tri combo and it really didn't feel as intense as I thought. I think what makes it appealing to me is the strength, muscle, and burn aspects.
