Anyone know if E9x steering racks would fit? Found out the E92 M3 has a 12.5:1 rack... which would be sweet. I don't see any on ebay, but I'm sure they're out there. Unfortunately the 335 has a 16:1 steering ratio, so that'd actually be a downgrade (I swear the steering felt pretty good when I drove one though)
Looks to be the same general design |

I can't find either on the market right now. But there were a lot more M3s made than Z4MCs so I think there's a much better chance of me finding an E9x M rack. If I could find a Z4MC rack (for a reasonable price of course) I'd buy it immediately.

32136757651 - I wanted to double check this was the correct part number to order. Also this will work on a E46 M3 correct? I assume so as it is a e46 but we all know what assume means.

You need to swap the tierods, but otherwise it's a direct fit. I will work on installing mine sometime this week.

+1This reminds me of when SeanC was claiming that ZHP control arms had special geometry. We argued back and forth for pages on another thread and he sweared he'd prove himself to be correct. He never did. And he's been active as of two days ago. Wild wild claims from ZHP dreamland.

By chance do you have the tie rod part numbers? Also why do you need to change tie rods? Isn't that a universal part?

So what's the best rack to put on the e46?
I have a 2000 328i. Do I have the slow rack?

I am almost thinking it would be easier to get a little quicker steering with the Comp/CSL M3 steering. Price is the same figuring adding in new tie rods.

What I'm not sure about is if the inner half of the tierods are the same or not. The outer half w/ the ball joint definitely isn't. Unfortunately, while BMW sells the outer half separate, the inner half is only sold in combination - so it's impossible to know if the inner half is the same for M3s and non-Ms I will just grab the complete tie rod assemblies from my existing rack. |

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...40&hg=32&fg=25 This is starting to sound more cumbersome for a little more of a gain. I will just stick with ordering a commotion package steering rack. I saw you posting on the M3forums as well. I don't need the rack to be super twitchy just a little more than it is now. If I want twichy steering I will drive my 1M. You sneeze and you are driving out your side window HAHA. |

So total cost to me should be about $250. Sure I'll need to replace the tie rods eventually, but that would have been the case had I not decided to upgrade the rack either. |

sorry price is the same as a Comp/CSL steering rack. Did not check what the discounted pricing was.
Price for the ZHP 330i steering rack is $1027. 2 sets of tie rods are $109 each.Total is $1245 to get all 3 parts need. Unless there is a part I missed? |

Oh you're buying brand new? Then you might as well go with a Z4M Coupe rack... No way in hell I'd spend more than $500 on a steering rack swap
