Fuel swap

Sup, im new to this site and also to bmw. I just got an e46 328ci, nice i like it. Ive seen alot of people run premium in their cars but mine seems to run on regular. I know premium gives a better drive. I wana know how to get there the proper way without messing everything up cuz i know bmw is touchy!

+1 also I've read that if you put cheap gas then you will hear ticking sounds or something.

My point was, run premium in your car. Saying you think it runs on regular is either misinformed or flat out wrong. Bmw's take premium (91, 92, 93, or 94 octane, depending on where you live).

I don't think OP was talking about saving money or not. I genuinely think he was confused about what the car requires.

If you're asking how to make the transition, just fill up with premium next time. It won't hurt anything.

Yeah premium just has more octane in it plus maybe some more random lubricant chemicals. Running half and half 87 and 93 would just give you a tank of 90 octane gas
