Sure, whatever works for you.

The 2012 race lasted 67 hours. Not much you can do to train for that. Nice recap.

I'm asking you, would you rather take advice from someone who has competed in it a few times or someone who has never done anything like it?

answer honestly.

he's a cubs fan. you honestly think someone who roots for a team that has sucked goat balls for over 100 years straight is going to listen to good advice? because if he did, there would be a sox logo in his sig.

My advice is derived from watching the Hobie Call video that I pointed out to the OP....kind of a tongue in cheek cliff notes, if you will. Do you have anything to add that will help the OP or do you just want to keep nitpicking the help offered by others?

Take some time, watch the video and if you want to debate anything I offered as advice, let me know....or sign up, pack up for VT, and follow any advice you like.

Well, thanks for posting the video I suggested. What would we do without you?

So you watched the 50+ min. video when? During the 13 min. lapse between your post and mine? Before? After your posts? [does not expect truth]

Let's hear it, what part of my advice do you think would be unhelpful to the OP. Be specific.

....or troll on somewhere else.

I finally got a chance to watch the whole video, haha I just walked into a bigger sh!t storm than I thought. It Should be pretty intense, I don't think the physical demands will be as great as the mental games. Thanks all for the suggestions, training starts Monday!

Those were my thoughts also. I figured you'd be able to take a lot from that video. I certainly learned a lot.

Good luck....and I completely agree with you about it being more mental than anything else (not to diminish the physical aspect of the event.)

Hey no problem, glad my video post help shed some light on the tough road ahead. I watched right after I posted it.

Got anyone training with you? Know anyone who has been through anything close to this that could help you with your training?

You should try to get someone to film it like the video I posted

This will be the hardest thing I've ever trained for by far. I'm glad cause most things takes me a month or two to get ready for. I have a friend at work that does iron mans and another that does alot of 100 mile marathons that I'll be working with. Another friend says he'll sign up but I don't think he will. I have a buddy thats a SEAL so I can consulte with him, but he's rarley in town and hard to get ahold of to train with. I'm going to try and get some sponsors and bring some people out as a support team. My work, along with another company said they'll sponsor me. I'm talking to the local running store on what they can provide me with as far as gear and money.

real nice man! I'm sure training with people have trained for intense competition will be a big help! And thats a really fortunate thing to have.

Hopefully you can film the training or even the race and post it here. Maybe even do a blog?

Here's another video i found after i watched the 50min one.....giving a bit of insight into some of the training Hobie does

If you know of anyone who is mentally and physically capable and they are the type of person you would enjoy spending time with then by all means send them our way.

Thanks, the smaller races are fun too. I'm probably doing the warrior dash in August( 5k will be a joke) as a warm up for Tough mudder. Then Chicago half marathon the next day, along with traing for this race. I think I'm going to try and stay up non stop from Friday morning till Sunday or monday night to see how long I can go.
