Need Help!

My car has been vibrating realllllly bad. Could it just be the tires? I'm ordering some new rear tires tomorrow and hopefully that will take care of it.

Yes i'll get an allignment once I get the new tires.

Can I get 205/50/16 tires for the rear or do they need to be 55 like the front?

Do I have to get the same tread pattern as the front?

FRONT:

REAR:

The thread pattern doesn't have to be the same, but I recommend you to get 55 too for the rear. Otherwise, it would be like having 16's wheel at front and 15's at rear.

Tires dead? Buy useless shifter instead of new tires.

You're sure the tread pattern doesn't matter?

If so then what tires do you guys recommend for the rear?

Cheaper the better but I don't want ones that are going to be hella loud or die quick

Thanks!

Yea since that shift knob/beer tap took up all my money?

It does matter, but we are not driving M3's where grip and other things count for track etc...Just make sure you get the same size and brand at rear (Both rear tires). If you're are to spend a bit more, then get a type that best suit your driving. Where I live now rains everyday, so summer tires that work good on water is what I got.

Please let me know if you know of one! I've decided to fix up my interior before other things.

got new tires because I needed them and to hopefully get rid of the bad vibrations.

got the tires on and drove around, the really bad vibrations were still there.

Took the car to the shop to get diagnosed. It sounds like it might be my left rear wheel bearing. I just had the right rear one replaced.

They haven't had time to look at it yet.

Interior work will have to wait.

Also could be a minor bends in your wheels, might want to check those as well.

It is really loud when running? I didn't check those, it's at the shop already so they'll take a look. Thanks for the heads up though. I need the car fixed asap so I can get to work and not have to take my moms car lol

That could be it! The mechanic mentioned that a couple times a while ago that the wheel might have a slight bend. I'll call and ask him to check that out.

Thanks for the words of advice guys. When the mechanic tells me what's wrong, i'll ask you guys to see if I can fix it on my own.

The problem was the hub. Spent about $500 to fix it. Hopefully i'll be able to start the interior after my next pay check. GF is coming to visit at the end of July so I need to start saving money for that also lol

I wish all my hubs looked like this one we replaced

Thanks man, you're saving for the gf or something else?

also my cars handling has either turned to **** or its a lot better than it has been and i'm not used to it.

I'm guessing this is because of the new tires of course, but why exactly?

I start taking a hard turn and it feels normal, then all of a sudden it cuts hard and I'm not turning the wheel anymore than I was...

Is it because of the different tread patterns? Because the tires were inexpensive? Or just that i'm not used to having a lot of tread on my rear tires since I came home from college and have been driving with barely any tread until now?

The handling got worse or better? Should be better because of new tires. Cheap new tires are better then used bald tires regardless.

+1.

I would also visually check the Control Arms, Sway Bar Links, Tie Rods, Strut mount points or a worn spring pad. I do this a lot, I just remove my wheels and look very carefully.

as an example check this guy videos

I'm not sure whether to say it's better or worse, I'm so used to cornering the way I used to with the old tires that now it feels really weird. I'll just get used to it haha I'll check all that asap DJ, thank you for the video
