BTw, if you were to just keep the 330 as is and not put any more money into it, then you can totally convince her that it is worth more as a spare car/daily driver than selling since the money you get will not be significant enough

However, i think you had plans to continue to mod the 330?...

I thought she ran off to marry a foreigner and become an heiress? Besides, do you even know whose mother is which?

In any case, it's good to have a workaday car/toy/wardrobe to go alongside your nice things. But that's me.
I don't think anything I buy would be "pratical" for a daily for what I am looking at outside a 330d.

It'd be nice but you have to admit it is a bit redundant to have a 330i and m3 of the same generation

while I agree it might be redundant to an an e46m3 and keep the 330.... the 330 is paid for, registration is $180 a year and I could put just liability insurance on it.... and have it as a back up car. Moving back in with tiff would save me money from my current situation, which I could put back into savings and still live comfortably, plus daycare is going away come August because both boys will be in school.

but really he does make a point as does your wife. the 330i is already a daily driver. if you went the 335d route it'd become your toy. if you went m3/5 it'd be your aging needs work daily driver. best advice is always to never stretch beyond your means if a second car is doing that then the current one needs to be replaced or maintained. where you sleep, eat, screw and raise your children will always take priority to me.
see above, the 330i is not really stretching me beyond my means....

My opinion is to keep as many cars as possible but I'm sick in the head this way. srsly im not right.

In terms of real world practicality there is points for either side.
A) always nice to have a back up car if needed.
B) is parking going to be an issue?
C) is the cost of additional insurance justified
D) instead of the 330i would you get a different 3rd car/truck
E) the insurance you save from losing the 3rd car altogether can go towards the new car payment
F) happy wife happy life.

Put simply more pros than cons you're getting the move you want and a new car, wouldnt be a bad compromise.

PS: This both makes me happy and sad.
Good points...... would you be interest in buying it if I sell

I am not practical.......

She has a mini cooper.

I hadn't really planned on modding the 330 anymore. The plan was to get a 335 or m3, then work on some of the maintenance on the 330 here and there and have it as a backup in case one car goes down.

**** Curve Ball Effect ***** I threw this at her....... "How bout instead of getting rid of the 330, I get a new engine, tranny and rear end..... send it up to Kalim and keep the 330 for a couple more years.... (didn't say it would be an s54 swap).......

she was like "OK, that is fine"

I really need to open a shop.

Apparently the two bays next to DetailAddict are available. Only 2 exits away, too.

It couldn't be there for a long period of time..... I would have him get all the parts ready and there (if he has the space and doesn't mind), drive the car up, fly home, then pick it up as soon as it is ready.

Well, she still wouldn't care, considering it would cost me half of what it would for a 2005/6 M3 with low miles.
