Upon finding that the set of kidneys shipped matches neither the picture offered in this thread, the description ("pristine"!) nor quality approaching anything close to the price paid ($100) I asked Slopestyle to return my money (minus shipping) in exchange for my return of the product; I also offered to take 50% and keep the parts as spares, but he has refused.

Is it wrong to expect products to match their description and price point per market norms (ie mesh grill kidneys do go for $100 plus, but not the kind made from broken oem kidneys and chicken wire sourced from Home Depot at the price of several dollars per foot)?

Is it wrong to expect that if a picture is posted in an ad that, unless otherwise noted, that the product will match the picture?

I understand the concepts of free market capitalism and caveat emptor very well, but I think this is beyond the pale given lack of accuracy in terms of the picture and description used in the advertisement as compared to the actual good delivered.

Would others agree that I'm in the right here to ask for some form of renumeration or payback for delivery of inferior goods?

As a footnote, as with most of my e46fans.com dealings I agreed to send payment via Paypal "friends and family" to avoid transaction fees for the seller. I've always found people on here to be honest and trustworthy. I'd like to think that I can continue to do so, and have others trust me, but this sort of experience forces you to question that logic.

FTR, I have purchased and sold numerous items over this site and never once before had a problem like this.

To clarify, I sold him those grilles at the top of the screen for $100. I paid shipping and pp fees, specifically asked him if he wanted insurance etc, etc, nothing. Now he wants to KEEP the grilles AND wants $50 bucks back. I bought these grilles with my roof rack a couple years back, never even put them on my car, if they fit I would've put them on they were gorgeous. Can I really be blamed if he didn't want to pay for insurance on them? if they are even broken?! to restate what I said earlier, HE WANTS TO KEEP THEM AND $50 BACK!!!

See pictures below of what was sent.

FTR, I first asked for my money back if I returned the grilles.

Slopestyle claims he sold these for a friend and never looked at them closely (contradicts prior story about buying with roof rack fwiw but whatever.) He's decided to repay half of buying price so I'll erase previous comments, but, buyer beware, proceed at your own risk.
