Tires rubbing in rear E46 HELP!
Okay so i just bought some 19' rims thinking they could fit (my friends made it work on their bmw) the have 235/70/19 tires on them, they are only rubbing on the back. I really dont want to take it to a shop to get an alignment done (what most peoples advice is) and i would rather not roll or cut the fenders but i will if thats the only option. Is there any way to stop that tire from rubbing such as adjusting the camber slightly so it tucks in nicely? just adding that this is a 2000 323ci. please let me know what i can do so it stops rubbing.

lol
camber in will make it rub on the trunk wall, you'll have to roll or replace, those are your options... Wait, 70 series? WTH? I hope thats a typo! I'm running 245/35-19 in the back...

I'm guessing it was meant to be a 4 not a 7? Typing on a number pad, it's the only thing I can HOPE happened.

Raise the car up about 3 inches and you shouldn't have any rubbing.

Same problem here! Bought 18" style 189 rims with tires 245/40/18 rear. Fenders were rolled but still rubbing. The dude who align the wheels told me it might be the shocks since it's just rubbing on deep bumps. Wanna know if there's other reason it's still rubbing before I have the shocks replaced... It's a 2003 325ci

You did not need to tell us it was a 2000 323i. We already knew it would be.

Sorry to thread jack, I have a 323i on 5series bbs 225/45/17 , it only hits on the rear passenger side, it doesn't rub as i had the fenders rolled but instead it hits the bracket holding up the bumper
, any ideas on how to fix this or if anyone has dealt with this before. Thanks in advance. Last edited by jonny0305; 07-23-2012 at 04:30 PM. |

Good thing to know that I'm not the only one to notice this trend.OP, smaller wheels. If you don't want to modify the car there is no way to alter the space time continuum to make wheels that are too large not rub.

The point MJ was trying to make is that the people posting about HUGE wheels on their car are ALMOST ALWAYS 1999/2000 323 owners. The oldest most affordable E46s purchased by the youngest guys.

I was the first one to claim 323 is the source of all rice related problems.

Have you replaced your cooling system? JFOJ? Fuel pump & relay? Subframe ok? This is all more important than large rims.
