I've been wanting an ultra-casual loafer for a while. I know the upper is a beef roll penny, but I'm getting these instead of boat shoes, so I think the casualness of the Vibram sole will be okay for how I intend to wear them.

That's just the nature of denim that looks like that. The ultra dark denim tends to be stiff and uncomfortable. I've gotten used to it, but I still have a very soft pair of Levis that I like to wear when I'm not up for raw denim.

Yeah, they're not in at the moment. I've always enjoyed breaking in my own shrink-to-fit 501s, but there was a dark period there where everyone wore acid-wash and other ridiculous-wash jeans. I don't miss that era.

bought some black park ave's from the Nordstrom sale, needed some simple black shoes. However, the strands caught my eye, and they're on sale too! Also picked up some casual clothes, lucky jeans and some going-out shirts

the park ave's were 220, as are the strands. But, I would've liked the strands in a darker color like a burgundy or brown if I was going to buy them. I love the walnut, but I already have the fifth ave's in walnut.

Definitely elaborate. I looked at their website and it looks like they sell a lot of things I would like.

so i'm planning on picking up the strands via the nordstrom sale. For you guys that have them already, any belt recommendations?

I wonder if they're struggling. 5 years ago they would run maybe one big sale every 1-2 months. Seems like everyday they're doing something now.

Are you getting them in walnut?

I got the walnut belt from AE for $98. I'm very happy with it.

I ordered a pair of Alden Indy boots on 6/26. The website didn't say anything about being fulfilled from the manufacturer or being out-of-stock. I got an order confirmation immediately and it said they'd ship shortly. They charged my card on 6/26 for the full amount.

A week passed with no ship confirmation. I contacted NRO, who said Alden had closed for two weeks. The boots would arrive in eight business days and they'd overnight them to me.

After eleven business days, I contacted NRO again. They said the boots arrived that afternoon and that they'd ship them and send me shipping confirmation.

Now it's been almost a week past that. No boots. No shipping confirmation.

I'm a reasonable guy and I know that things don't always go according to plan. But their site has this elaborate "policies" page about how they notify anybody when items are out of stock or delayed, shipping with 48 hours, etc. NRO has made NO effort to notify me of any of the three delays on my order, has not shipped the order within 48 hours of their receipt, etc. I wouldn't be so upset about this if they had made ANY effort to pretend they cared about customer service.

So now I've contacted the BBB to try to force them to deliver the product. That's all I want...them to deliver the product they said they'd deliver.

There have been a few times over the years when I've had to write letters to vendors of all kinds (on my legal letterhead, obvs) letting them know that I was exercising my right under the UCC to cancel their order for non-performance and demand a full refund. That usually tends to get them to perform.

Can you guys recommend a good dark brown leather belt? Something not too expensive. My belt has just about had it.

A dress belt or casual belt?

Probably your best bet is to just head over to Nordstrom and see what they have hanging on the rack.
