Feedback for selling?

Hey y'all,

I need to get rid of my e46 for financial reasons, and I'm hoping I can get some advice/feedback from you guys since you all are really knowledgable about the e46. I have a 2002 325xi with high mileage (204,000). Second owner, no accidents. It's in good condition (needs no engine/mechanical work...just minor cosmetic stuff for $100 or so). What do you think would be a reasonable price for it? (considering I'm motivated to sell). It's in SoCal - anyone with knowledge about the market for e46 down here? It's on CL - should I consider a larger market? eBay maybe? Looking to bounce these and similar q's/thoughts off y'all.

Thanks for all input!
Craig

Craigslist and forums like these should be enough. Have a link to your CL ad?

I'm going to list my 2001 330ci with 152,000 with no issues for $6,900 in a month or so. Blue book says in just good condition $7,400.

just a tip: Always ask higher then the selling price you want to get. Let them talk you down if you're selling to a stranger. I'd list it at 7,200 and let them "haggle" me down to 6,900 if that's the price you want.

Here's the CL ad:

It's been up for a week, but no responses. Scared away by the high mileage?

Thanks for the advice so far.

Mileage probably isn't helping. Try to list some of your mechanical repairs / preventative maintenance to ease the pain of that high mileage number.

I bought a 99' 328i with 203k for $2,900 in January. Had a previous accident and some other issues. I think $4,900 may be a little high for 204k miles unless you have done a lot of PM and there is no issues.

Edit: Just looked at your add and the car is in way better condition than the one I bought. I'd hope for $4,500 so $4,900 is a good list IMO.

It takes time I put my friends up almost a month ago for 7500 for a 02 330i and only had a couple people call and no one has came by yet? so don't get in a big hurry.

Don't just list on Craigslist, spread your ad around Autotrader and other online classifieds (For example Kijiji, at least in Canada).
The for-sale section here, and on Bimmerforums are other options.

Also a week is nothing.. I've daily driven past decently priced cars that have had "For Sale" signs in their windows since Fall 2011.
Just hang in there.

Seriously, wash it better. Buff the headlights. Detail the car thoroughly and take some more pics. It may be high mileage but don't let it look like you don't care for the car. I think the first impression (photos) are throwing people off. (Just my opinion!)

+1. Take down these photos or maybe even the whole listing and re-do with a detailed car and photos that aren't sun-washed. First impressions are everything so wipe down the engine bay so there aren't water marks on the engine components, wash the windows with window cleaner and newspaper to put a non-streaked shine on them, headlights as suggested... This should increase the likelihood of getting a call.

couple things:

You show me a picture of suburbia and then say the car has 205k highway miles.
You claim a full tune-up (what does this mean?)
You claim tires with lots of tread (how much? how old are the tires?)
You claim car needs no work, but show me a picture of a dirty engine bay and a filthy rear seat
You claim the paint still shines, but show pictures of dull looking paint and opaque headlights
