Randy can tune the M54 as well. In fact, he's done mine.

Also, for anyone who is interested, dyno testing at my facility costs 125 per hour. I can book for the 14th of August and if I can raise most of 125 dollars then I will do two sets of runs. A bunch with the tune in the car and a bunch with it flashed back to stock tune. I imagine it will take close to two hours total. So, it should almost offset half the costs.

If you would like to donate, PayPal it to jared_wiesner@rogers.com. If I don't even get close to the $125 I will send the money back.
Sent Try to get it done before the 14th if you can! Guys: Put your money with your mouth is. Let's all chip in!

Thanks so much, unfortunately my dyno guy is on holidays until the 14th, but I'll make sure we get some solid data out of this.

(thanks to zhp43867's generous donation we now only have 80 bucks to go to get this done.)

The dyno test has been booked for the 14th.

Okay I'm going for it. How long did it take to get the cable? I'll have before and after dynos. Car is basically stock, but very healthy and fully tuned up.

You sure you don't wanna wait for the outcome? It feels good, but keep in mind I've never tried the shark either

It doesn't, but I'd like to see how this turns out.

Honestly the shark is the safest bet there is. It's made proven power and does a good job of supporting other mods. This tune was a somewhat educated gamble that I took out of impatience that seems to have turned out. I recommend it on feel alone but if it fails on the dyno, I hope your ok with taking the fall with me :p

I just want to go on record saying... I think the shark will still beat this tune. Jim Conforti isn't some shlub trying to tune cars. With that being said, the shark tune could be better. Guess we will see.

Randy is no shlub though. He has been tuning winning BMW race cars for years. His tune decimated what the shark tune for the e46 m3 had achieved.

I'm not a fan of shark, but I wouldn't say it sucks. My issue with it is you can't turn off the lower O2 sensors. So my headers would throw a SES light again. My ESS tune turns off the lower O2 sensors for me. However I've heard nothing but happy campers, and dyno results seem to back up the power gains (although I can't think were I've seen them at the moment). If Shark could turn off the lower O2's I would probably go that route too, but since it doesnt, its useless to me.

Thanks so much,

Spoke on the phone with Randy today. The reason for the 900-1000 rpm idle is because of my under drive pullies, it gives me the best of both worlds, better cooling at idle and electrical charging but also the benefit of the pullies. Apparently it's really critical with race cars that are running small batteries. Guess he thought of everything, I just mentioned I had power pullies in passing, didn't think it'd matter for the tune.
