E46 (almost) unscathed after 90 MPH encounter last night!

Last night I'm running home from Tallahassee on I-10 westbound. It's pitch black outside, my wife following me in her car, an old Infinity sedan.

I pass a car and as I return to the right lane,

BAM!

I hit something on the right front part of my car. "FVCK! What the hell was that??!". I slowed down out of shock, trying to figure out what just happened. I hit it so hard, the car lost momentum for a second. It felt like it was the size of a German Shepard. I was definitely shaken, and called my wife. "I hit it too, but not bad! Mom screamed...". We pulled over to look at the inevitable damage. "Damn", I thought, "this is gonna be bad. Fvck!"

We got out and looked, under the Rest Area's street lights. Huh? There was NO DAMAGE that I could see. NOTHING! I'm completely blown away, laughing in relief. My wife's car had some damage to the bottom plate and front facia. There were rubber marks on her silver paint that were visible. Because of the rubber, we are thinking that the object i hit was probably a large truck tire section. Must have been big.

This morning I went out to take a better look, and there is a part of my bottom cover (the plastic piece) that is broken and bent forward. Not bad at all!

Happy that BMW builds a thick-metaled, well-engineered car!

I hit a truck tire once at around the same speed and it felt the same way you explained it my car was fine but my buddy behind me was in his 240 and made a mess of his car.

So I was visiting friends in Fl. last night and let my beagle, Cindy, out for a walk. Anyone happen to see a beagle wandering around?

I managed to damage my car when I was not in it & it was not moving! I was rolling the snow tires away into the garage loft & one got away from me and fell 10 feet onto the hood of the car. You can not imagine how helpless I felt watching it fly towards the car. It landed right on the BMW emblem. Ok, it was dented & the paint less dent repair estimated it would cost $ 400 to fix. I probably will get it done this year..

I hit a dog and it messed the whole drivers side of my mount for the fog light. You're lucky.

lmao I remmeber that happening once. A friend of mine upfront didn't see it and clipped it with his front wheel. went up in the air and my friends 240 that was behind him ended up getting whiplash to the face.... lmao
