My brother had a tire blow out and its jiblits manage to rip apart the entire wire harness. He managed to painstakingly rewire the bundle.

After further inspection: yes the fog light cover is gone, and the fog light is no longer solid but is easily moved back and forth...damn!

I've always called them gators, but I'm going to have to make use of this new term now that one cracked my windshield...

As for indestructible bumpers, you guys must be lucky. I hit a *tiny* raccoon at about 60mph a couple years back and it tore through my bumper. Hit the passenger side, went through the fog light hole and tore all the way to the edge. (prefacelift sedan bumper) Gave me a good reason to blow $1k upgrading to the Mtech II bumper though.

Or you know, not. Most of us bought these cars for similar reasons. Ability to do prolonged high speed drives happens to be one of them. (granted, 90mph is laughable under that term, but you get the idea)

This.

I go 85+ all the time if there's no traffic. I do a lot of driving at night, sometimes I'll go for 10 miles without seeing a car on my side of the highway... there's absolutely no reason for me to go the speed limit in those instances, the only person at risk is me. America is too damn cautious, go for a spin on the autobahn sometime, great experience

HAHA!

OP, I hit a Re-cap semi-truck tire that was perfectly centered in the freeway at about 70-75, and lost the Belts Expansion tank, Fogs, splash shield. and Front bumper trim that goes across the middle from side to side... It literally JUMPED or curled under the car and busted through the splash shield. Scared the SH*T outta me. I was coming over the rolling freeway hilltop and there it was and nowhere for me to go.. car to the right, wall to the left.... Im lowered too, so if your still stock then that prolly helped save you..

Wow, that sucks!

I have the ZHP with aftermarket components so it's pretty low, but I think that's what actually helped me in my case.

Reference the speed...I never saw it, so I don't think it mattered much if I was doing the average of 77mph (in a posted 70).

We did, but if you're unable to see a truck tire at all, then you're over driving your headlights. Either turn the high beams on or slow down ... there's a time and place for everything.

OP, glad nobody got hurt and the car managed to survive the collision with just minor damage.

If you are out driving your headlights and you have OEM xenon, you either need to realign them vertically or replace the bulbs. Or both. Or check if your reflector bowls are burnt.

Wait, so what did OP hit?

Was it in fact a dog?

I hit a german shepherd back in my e39 days and it fvckin destroyed my front bumper. Took out my OEM M5 bumper by smashing it to pieces and it's head put a dent in my hood right between the two kidney grills. Then a month or two ago I hit a rabbit with my car and it smashed a (brand new) foglight and shoved it back by the splashguard.
