Trim on Jet Black cars VS trim on other Colors

Hello, I have searched but to no avail have I found an answer! I am going to wrap my chrome trim on my hardtop to match my ZHP trim. I am wondering though, do Jet Black ZHP's and M3's have paint matching trim on the exterior because it seems on every other color ZHP and M3, the trim is matte black where as on a jet black ZHP or M3, the trim is paint matched (jet black).... I am asking this because I want the wrap I do on the chrome hardtop trim to match the flow of the trim on the rest of the car. If this is the case, I am thinking gloss black would be better as the matte would not flow with the rest of the trim.
Any insight on this subject would be fantastic,

I have a jet black sedan with matte black trim. Looks better than gloss imo.

Haha yes, thanks for the input, but I am wondering this for ZHP's and M3's.

I have an Imola ZHP and my trim is gloss black... I've never seen it matte from the factory.

And sorry BlackE46, it would look better glossy. The flat makes it look like it's just primed... looks cheap imo.

Thanks for the info, maybe I am misinformed... It just looks like the trim on other ZHP's and M3's is not as shiny as the trim on my jet black ZHP. Plus, the hardtop trim on M3 hardtops looks to be matte. Guess I'll be buying the gloss black to match.

2 door ZHP's, like all 2 doors, and M3s, have paint matched side moldings, even the black ones.

4 door ZHP's, like all 4 doors, have matte black side moldings.

EverydayGetaway has a 4 door and he says he has gloss black.... And I'm pretty sure ZHP 2 doors have black trim, gloss or matte I am un sure of. I have never seen a 2 door ZHP non jet black with paint matched side molding, its always been black.

Mine is most definitely gloss black. I've never seen or heard of a stock ZHP having matte trim...

The trim on my ZHP is matte black. My car is an '05 sedan in jet black.



It's not as matte as the faded rubber look you get on other cars, but it definitely doesn't have the sheen of the body paint.

Guys I'm pretty sure he's talking about the window trim not the door moldings

You've got people confused about what trim you're talking about - window or door moldings?

For the window trim, all ZHP coupes and sedans have gloss trim, regardless of what color the car is. Not sure on the M3 if it's matte or gloss.

For door moldings, see my previous post. All 3 series coupes have painted door moldings, regardless of model (323ci, ZHP, M3, etc.). All 4 doors, including the ZHP, have matte black door moldings.

Maybe because you didn't get 4cyl models over there...
In Europe:
4cyl models - matte black
6cyl - chrome
Sport, M-sport, M3 - gloss black
+ gloss black was an option for every model

Gloss black is just non-metallic shiny black, it isn't color-matched on black cars.
