Samsung Galaxy SIII - In Depth Review.

Anybody using the Otterbox Defender? It makes the phone super thick but it has great protection and I need the belt holster.

why does my wifi turn itself back on?

i turn it off everyday at work since there is no wifi signal, yet i will check it and it's right back on ?

also, can someone tell me how to disable email sound notifications? i figured that out on my old galaxy s - but no idea on the s3

When you first set it up and your WiFi is off and you get in an area with WiFi, it has a pop up that lets you know there's a connection and it gives you three options. Automatically connect, connect now, or do not connect. My guess is you may have chose the auto connect and checked the box for it not to ask you again. Check settings.

Go into your email. Press the menu button, the one to the left of the home key and go to settings. Click on your email address. There should be notification sound option there.

Very likely the case but I can't figure out how to undue it in the settings menu.

The S3 is a PITA with wifi auto turning on. The only way I have been able to get it to stay off is to go into Settings-> WiFi -> Advanced and

1) Change Keep WiFi on durning sleep to Never
2) Take the check mark out of Auto Connect
3) On the main wifi screen take the check mark out of Notify me

That seemed to fix my random on wifi issues

i cant find the auto connect anywhere to uncheck it (i did steps 1 and 3)

Anyone having any issues with the LED notification? I have all of the options unchecked but when I get an email, text or missed call it still lights up.

Should be right above the option to keep wifi on in your advanced menu.

it's not - i have a network notification box - then under that is "Keep wifi on during sleep" -- under that "wifi timer" - under that MAc address and IP Address -- no auto connect anywhere to be found

Already has multiple jellybean roms in late beta stage if you are into that.

OTA update for JB has already been leaked for the T-Mobile variant so official must be within the next couple of months.

Tough to make a true AOSP for the S3 because the camera is integrated into TouchWiz.

I like vanilla Android, but the features of the latest TouchWiz are pretty amazing. Being able to do windowed video while using other applications is pretty sweet and a HUGE step in multitasking on smartphones.

Pretty much every manufacturer has their own camera app. Still plenty of AOSP, AOKP, and CM roms for them though. They just use the stock Android camera instead.
